Fast cars and bad luck for Montoya, who feels like a top-5 team but isn't so far in 2010

Apr 11, 2010 Full story: The Winnipeg Free Press 16

Juan Pablo Montoya has had fast cars and feels that the No. 42 is "a top-five team, easily." He has led five of the seven races this season, including Saturday night at Phoenix International Raceway.

Its too early to tell, but the next 10 or so races will seperate the men from the boys. Montoya should be in, Logano will probably fall. Hamlin probably wont make it. Martin and Kurt might, which means one other person has to fall out... I'll say Dale Junior. Montoya has a long ways to get stuck into that top 12 and I hope for the best for him and Logano. But thats what I see...

Kyle might stay in, but with the way he talks his smack on the radio, I was glad to see him lose at PIR. Same way Hamlin talked smack when he'd win a race like they were a team to be feared... please. Getting cocky when you're good is just inviting karma to ruin your day.

Way to go for Jpm, the 42 has always been a contender this year, and last. They just need a bit of good luck to put together some wins.

Montoya will not make the chase. Just not a Nascar driver. He should go back to open wheel with the rest of the spoiled brats

No no I think JPM is in the perfect series for him at the moment ... racing against all the other fat assed dumbasses who just aren't good enought to make it to any real racing series ....

pretty retarded statement since he already made the chase once and was top 5-ish going into the last race of last season.

Juan's position in the standings doesn't represent how well he has been running. Juan has run up front a lot and if not for mishaps of others, he would probably be in top 10 in points. He'll win a round track race this season.

Good to finally see people on here that really knows the sport, unlike others that just talk B.S.
Can't wait for the Texas race ;)

I still consider that if its proof of his abilities, he had Indy wrapped up and in the bag so we at least know it can be done, no doubt about that.

NASCAR is the perfect series for jpm, he's a skilled driver with tons of ability, agressive, and a proven winner. Anyone who doesn't think this guy should be here, has obviously not been watching the same races as I. The way Juan can wheel that car is awesome, and he's only been getting better. Brian Patie, and Juan are obviously working well together; and I think Juan is becoming more active in conveying to the team how he wants the car to behave. At any rate I think montoya definately deserves credit for what he and the 42 team have accomplished.

The 2009 chase standings prove it. That was some awesome driving he did last season.

Without a doubt. And 2009 definately wasn't a fluke. The way that he is consistently running now is evidence that Juan has come a long way in a stock car. At every track nscs has run this year, the 42 has qualified, and run very well; despite some unfavorable results. The 42 is fast across the board, and shows no signs of slowing down.
