Phony enthusiasm and not calling a race as it really is is turning me off. Politically correct drivers are boring.
And I have been a fan since the 50s.

I agreewith this writer.(Did I just say that out loud?) The start time is hurting the ratings. Sure, there are other issues, but the biggest issue is the start time.

Used to attend 3-5 cup and Busch races per year. I,m going on my third year without going to one. My twenty year old son who starting going to cup races at age 5 now wouldn't go to one if you paid him, nor would his friends. Don't depend on me for T.V. ratings I only watch Daytona Bristol, Richmond , and Dega. Nascar is losing their base and they don't even seem to care.

I think this is serious. When the Irl is picking up ratings yet we are losing them something needs to be rearranged. Alms is rising in ratings now.

Nascar is going down the same roads that the IROC series went down over the last decade. The obomabot will no longer allow the domestics dump hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars into the france family pocket. Without that manufacturer help, teams will fold. feeder series' will fold. Sponsors will leave to other series, Nascar will cut back on its schedule, tracks will fold. ect ect ect.

Blah, blah, blah... Same ol' nonsense from our supposed Nascar fan base. Let the damn thing fold, would probably be the best thing that could happen. The people who do nothing but complain and talk about how they now hate Nascar are the only reason the ratings are down. If you hate it so much, than leave already and those of us who would like to see some changes in the current series' can enjoy ourselves without all you so-called fans. What so many of you fail to see, is that Nascar was around way before they had TV ratings. The ratings is a big part of the reason we have Nascar in it's current format. They've been trying to appeal to a much wider audience throughout the last 30 years or so and they finally accomplished that goal. The funny thing is, the majority of you are that wider audience that they've been trying to appeal too and you all act like you've been there since the beginning. Most of you have never seen the old days of beating and banging; guys flying around the track with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth and fighting after the race. So quit pretending like you miss the good ol' days. What, you mean the 90's, or 80's? The problems of Nascar are as much to do with this new whiny a** fan base as they are the rules and cars. As any kind of competition grows more popular, changes are going to come and you either roll with them or just leave already. Am I saying Nascar doesn't need to make some changes? Absolutely not! What I'm saying is: Those who love it and feel some sense of loyalty don't want to be a supporting factor in it's failure. We express our opinions sure, but we want to stick around for the changes that can make it better, not be a major part of it's failure. The thing we all have to accept (if we're truly going to be fans) is that the good ol' days our over, as long as we keep appealing to that wider fan base, Nascar can never be like it was. It can certainly be better than it is now, but never like it used to be either. If you can't understand why, than nothing I, or anyone else, can ever say will appease you. Me, I'll stick around and try to enact the changes I'd like to see and hopefully enjoy racing for many years to come. All of you, Nascar has become the WWE and other completely unoriginal kind of idea people, enjoy your new pursuits.

NASCAR has become unwatchible: too many commercials, too many cautions(fake & real), cautions are dragged out, the broadcasters are idiots, the COT is a POS. The IRL and ALS run real race cars. The best thing that could happen is people stop watching WWE NASCAR and start supporting their local tracks. It would also be great if alot of the local track dropped their association with greedy NASCAR.

I think this is serious. When the Irl is picking up ratings yet we are losing them something needs to be rearranged. Alms is rising in ratings now.

Right! Right! Of course, as soon as those ratings really start flowing in, it'll all be about money and who's the most popular and you'll be complaining about those series too. So, you enjoy your IRL an ALMS. The more of you types that leave Nascar the better. We'll see you back when you get sick of the coverage and rule changes over there. I do agree with you about supporting your local tracks, but I've no clue what that has to do with not supporting Nascar. I support my local school sports teams, but it doesn't mean by doing so, I have to quit Watching The NBA, NFL, NHL, etc... Now, certainly something can be said about the negative affect finances have had on all sports, but you either accept the negatives so some degree or you quit watching attending any of them. There's one thing I can assure you of; Whoever and whatever gets the biggest and the most coverage, is going to be plagued by the same kind of criticism that Nascar is currently receiving. Because, money is and will always be a big factor for major sports organizations. We made them what they are by supporting them over the years and making another just like them changes nothing. Believe me, the local tracks would become a much different beast, if the money started flowing in by the fan base sky rocketing also. Your choices come down to, either accept some of the negative or quit participating all together. That, in essence, is a decision we all have to make for ourselves.
