Legacy/Overtaking Ability
Andrew Benson, a Motorsports Editor for the BBC, wrote this about Montoya's Formula 1 legacy in 2006.
"His incredible skills at overtaking - to which he brings an improvisation, bravery, deftness and flair that has arguably never been seen before - are inseparable from his mercurial character. It is easy to forget that until Montoya's arrival in the sport in 2001, overtaking in modern F1 was considered so difficult as to be almost impossible.
That is still the case, but Montoya has been able to transcend the limits imposed on drivers by complex aerodynamics and shorter braking distances and pull off passing moves that can only be described as breathtaking. The fact that no-one else has been able to emulate him merely underlines his astonishing ability - he will probably be remembered as the best overtaker in F1's history.
Your ignorance of JPM's tenure in NASCAR is also apparent...
JPM's first 2 years in NASCAR, he was reduced to drving for a substandard team and crappy equipment.
JPM's goal this year was to make the Chase so his focus was on getting the points to accomplish this. Saving his best driving for the Chase - he wasn't going for wins during the regular season.
JPM is the only driver to ever have top 5 finishes the first 4 races in a Chase. He was well on his way to making this 5 races until he sustained damage on a restart in Charlotte.
JPM is a Colombian drug lord? Childish cliche - at best...
Mark Martin is giving ALL NASCAR drivers a run for their Money - not just JPM. BTW, I'm sure that "Old Man" has accomplished more in his life than you ever will. Unlike you, he doesn't have a hangup about his age and is living his dream. With your attitude and when you reach his age I expect you to be a fat unaccomplished loser that has nothing to offer the world. Oh wait!!
You aren't American - where you from putz? Obviously you are a putz AND a loser. Anybody around the Metro area that's making decent money or has money - doesn't live in Conyer's Ga.=)
ha ha racing anal-ist, you are the jackass ... just because my ISP says Conyers doesn't mean I live there, but who cares, since when did assholes like you have any class distinction anyway... apes like you are all the same, you live in trees, and pick the shite off each others buttholes ...

As for the age thing, i'm already in the same ballpark age wise as the old man, I think it may be you with your childish approach to it all that needs to still acquire pubic hairs, never mind be old enough to think logically, or with your brain rather than the little thing dangling between your legs ..

Now about Montoya, I guess being fired from macca certainly makes him a brilliant drive in your eyes, considering you're one of those "I've made it" individuals who take their girlfriends with to the nascrap races, so she can get pissed on camel piss weiser and then lift her shirt so all your pals can stap you on the back and tell you how big her tits are ... big boy ...I can certainly see how you conld confuse that all with success ....

here is your hero in his finest moments, maybe he could overtake, but let's be honest he didn't have to many chances because his fat burger filled ass was crashing out all the time ....

I see that this poor hillbilly, married to his own cousin, had his moonshine pot belly full by the time the race ended. Do you still have your mistress Linda-Lou the Goat? Remember? The one you had a crush since you dropped out of elementary school back in grand-pa's farm!

don't make an ass of yourself dufus, if you think going around in circles for 2 milion laps is driving skill then your dumber than the proverbial box of rocks.

Oh and just for the record Montoya went to Cart from Willimas, it had nothing to do with Macca. Macca fired his fat ass 7 yrs later

By the way how many races has JPM won in the nascrap series, should be at least 20 by now seeing as though you all seem to bow down to him and worshit his greatness . How many F1 WDC's did he win? Sad really when a loser comes across the water and wins the Car championship in his first attempt ... left left left left left yawn left ...it's really not great skill now is it .... reminds me of another F1 bloke who did the same in 1993 ... ever heard of Nigel Mansell gay ... oops sorry Jay ...check him out, also came from F1 and kicked ass big time ... you see this going in circles shite is just too easy, even 50yr olds get to win .... about as much skill as this crap sport football .. what a waste. a 60 minute game that takes 4 hrs to finish ... more exciting to just watch paint dry ...

Oh yes! Nigel Mansell! you mean the guy who was fired from Williams Renault after winning his F1 championship in 1992?.... He wasn't really fired. As I recall, after Mansell had won the championship in 1992, Ayrton Senna had stated that he "would drive the Williams for free" and when Williams actually suggested that Mansell take a 50% pay cut! well as you can imagine, Mansell was so offended by this, that he looked elsewhere to race, and got an offer from Paul Newman to race Indy cars in the U.S. I always liked Nigel "Il Leone" and he did a great job winning the championship in 1993 as a rookie! but Juan Montoya was even more impressive winning his championship as a rookie in 1999, and Mansell wasn't a true rookie either! he was a seasoned veteran of Formula One, and the raining F1 World champion! as I recall, Paul Tracy gave him a pretty good run for his money for the championship that year! Montoya was a complete unknown when he dominated CART in 1999, coming from F3000 and some experience as a Williams test driver, but his 1999 CART season remains one of the most spectacular, and impressive accomplishments, not only in motor sports history but in all of sports history.

I used to hate JPM in F1 until I realized what a fantastic driver he is in inferior equipment. I actually started watching Nascar because he went there and I wanted to see if he would have an impact. Well, he sure as hell did. Anyone who thinks he can't drive is an idiot. As far as the racial slurs go, no big surprise. Insecure a**wipes always fall back on the racial comments when they can't defend their redneck opinions. Get over it losers, and you better get used to it. JPM is only the first of a long line to come. If you don't like it, you'd better find something else to watch.

He only pulled that off three times because Montoya was driving an inferior car! As good as Montoya is, how could he possibly compete with the whole Michael Schumacher/Ferrari/Ross Brawn package? and I'm not taking anything away from Michael Schumacher here either, I think he is probably the greatest to have ever driven in F1. The only other driver who I would compare to Schumacher is Senna, but if Montoya was driving the exact same car as Shcumacher, at the same point in their careers and with the same amount of experience! then I'm damn sure that it would be allot more than three passes, and Montoya would have allot more wins and a more impressive F1 legacy than he has. And I still think that Schumacher is probably the better of the two drivers. I just think that if Montoya was matched up better with Schumacher with the same equipment and the same amount of experience, that he would be allot closer to Schumacher than it appears.
