Just a thought, but entirely possible...I don't see MM driving for HMS full time for more than a year. Everything I have read is suggesting that MM is the driver for 2009, but not beyond. Tony's contract with Gibbs runs through 2009 and he could possibly be finishing out his contract before moving on. Rick may realize this and is doing what it takes to keep that car in top 35 for 2010. Again, this is just a thought.
Yup I thought of that a even said that in the race shop thread. Mark Martin could be a place holder driver till 2010 in witch time Tony would move over then.

I hope that does happen. I think Tony and Jr make great team mates they seem to work well together already even being on different teams.

I wonder if Jeff, Jimmie and Jr have been told that they need to do everything they can to help Mark win the championship next year because then Rick Hendrick will live in infamey with Mark Martin saying how much he LOVES him and how all those years driving at Rousch did not give him what he needed to get the championship... to that I say GO EVERYONE BUT HMS NEXT SEASON!!!!!!hey, that is what I say every friggin' week anyhow...LOL

Sounds like a winning propostion to me.
Plus as I mentioned to DD a few posts again, I think she would lose it if her precious Tony went to HMS and to me that would be funny. I know that is not very nice but her hatred for HMS and the nastiness she spews makes me angry. It is just racin and we can't all like the same team but there is no need to be nasty about it.

Mark does drive a clean race. But what I like about him is his gratitude to his fans. He never forgets to thank his fans. He is always nice and at least I've never heard him say anything bad about another driver. I've seen him pissed a few times cause he was wrecked for no good reason, but he held his tongue.

Now wouldn't that be funny... You'd have Tony the Tiger on his car (tee hee).

Got a few questions:

1. Didn't Mark sign w/ DEI till 09

2. Is he coming out of semi-retirement for 09 to
drive the 5 full-time?

3 If Tony decides (God forbide) to go to HMS in
09 what will happen to Mark. I mean if he does
run full-time won't that screw him? Do you
think DEI will take him back?

4. What sponsers will he have? Will Army go w/
him?

Yes, I know what pompous means. No one asked Tony about the #5, he said that his decision might take longer now that the #5 was open. No one ever said Rick had talked to or expressed interest in Tony coming to Hendrick.
Well then maybe you didn't actually read the article in the first place:
"But Stewart wasn’t joking when asked if Hendrick’s No. 5 would be something he would be interested in.

“Absolutely, absolutely,” Stewart said.“You’ve got to. There’s nobody in this garage area that’s not going to look in that direction. You’ve got to look at that.”

The open seat could postpone any announcement involving his future, Stewart said.

“After today’s announcement, I don’t know, it may be pushed back even more now,” Stewart said.“We’ll wait and see. It’s however long it takes to make the right decision.”"

He was asked if he'd be interested and replied that he was. I also assume that you aren't involved in discussions between Rick and Tony with regards to the possability. So why would you assume that Tony wasn't asked if he was interested by HMS? I don't think Rick woke up one day and decided it was time to fire a driver, he's undoubtedly been looking at his options for a while. It isn't unlikely that he would have at least thought about Tony for the car. MM is a great choice too, but Tony would likely be with HMS a lot longer than MM will be.

It really is sad how often someone decides to call people names on these boards even though they really don't have a clue.

1 No looks like he is being let go from DEI. 2 sounds like that is the plan full ride at HMS in 2009 3. Mark will probally find something else to ride in. Army is not really look at Mark Martin as the driver they want. Army can realate more 24 year old Aric A.

1 - Yes, but part-time and DEI doesn't want part-time they want to run AA full time.

2 - Right now (no official announcement yet) it looks like he will run full-time in the 5

3 - From what I've heard (only speculation) MM is only planning on running full-time for 1 year.

4 - Tony the Tiger will stay on the 5 car. I'm not sure if the Army is staying with DEI but speculation is they will stay on the 8 w/AA.

These are only things I've heard but trust me on one thing.. I am no where in "THE KNOW" group.

Thanks 20. But all of this just sounds a bit screwy to me. Don't know why just does. I'm sure there is alot more going on then just what they are telling us. I mean we can read bet. the lines. I just can't picture Mark just going here and there. He has such loyalty with the teams he drives. Alittle confusing.

Okay. Haas CNC would be okay with me even though they are powered by Hendricks. I HATE HENDRICK! I HATE THE DRIVERS! Don't know any of them personally and don't know Hendrick personally. So It's not a personal hatred. It's a rivalry hatred. Just like I am a huge Dolphins fan so therefore I hate the Jets-Bills-Patriots.....
If Tony goes into that #5 car we are done. I own ever single 1:24 diecast that Tony has ever driven. We are talking thousands of dollars just in cars. Plus the shirts, jackets, coolers, etc..... it will all go to yard sales and ebay. I will be finished with this guy forever. Hass CNC-OK.........Hendricks-NO NO NO I'm gone forever and will be a Stewart hater.
Not to worry Kitty, Mark Martin is the one to drive the #5 next year.
