The interesting part about the whole HAAS thing is the time frame by which they have to build this revamped team. I guess that worries me, I would think it would take longer than the time he may have to do it.

Very, very interesting.... guess it looks like DEI is going to take another major hit by loosing both Truex and Martin. I feel for them, with the economy the way it is they are going to need at least 1 big name to bring in the sponsorships. I for one would hate to see DEI fade away.

1. Truex from DEI to Penske.

Penske trades even up, like two 15-game winners in baseball, but gets a driver with a fresh attitude and approach. Truex has only one win, but he made the Chase last year and, at 28, is in his third Cup season. With a load of potential, he's a good bet to get much better.

For Truex, he goes to an organization that has the financial resources for the long run, something DEI lacks. Truex currently is 14th in the points, only 71 behind 12th-place Kevin Harvick, so he still has a chance to make the Chase this year, but it won't change his mind about leaving.

It's a right uppercut to the head for DEI, which was counting on Truex to build its team around him for the long term. Without Dale Earnhardt Jr. to bring in extra money to the company this year, the team has already started sliding into the midpack and it will be difficult to recover. Losing Martin hurts, too, but he was only a part-time driver. DEI is left with Paul Menard and Aric Almirola, who are decent but unlikely to win races or make the Chase.

DEI's biggest problem will be hiring a top-notch driver. Mears has to be on its list, but is he interested?

They still have Regan Smith but are looking for a sponsor for him.DEI has not had a productive year. It may be hard to get a top
notch driver when the cars are not finishing near the front....Guess we will soon find out whats up after Martin makes his announcement....

They are running the 01 without a primary sponsor this year so I can't see them doing it again next year just to keep Regan Smith especially since he's one of the drivers that could drop out of the top 35 at any given week. It makes me wonder if they will take Chip's lead and drop the 01 (like the 40) before the end of the season so they don't end up spending their own money.

I know DEI is supposed to run 2 Nationwide cars next year 1 with Jeffrey and 1 with another East Series up and comer. But they probably won't be ready to run in Cup for at least a year or 2. Actually I've watch a few of the East Series races and I haven't been too impress with Jeffrey.. He's definitely not a Joey Logano.

Hopefully much longer than that. I just hate to see any company go under. But with the economy the way it is only the strong are going to survive. Sponsors are only going to go with teams that have high profile drivers and/or show a good chance of being competitive. Right now only the 8 and 1 have that and with MM leaving and possibly Truex leaving I can't see either car having what it takes to be competitive.

Maybe John Menard can convince one of the big brands that sell at his stores to sponsor one of the cars.. maybe John Menard will buy Teresa out.. kind of sad that the compnay she did not want to share with Jr might end up out of her hands... maybe she'll be needing to marry John Menard..

No, we didn't forget about AA but he is not a high profile name that will keep DEI afloat. They need a driver that can bring in money especially now a days. Things are tough out there and money is very tight.

Want to believe it or not.. DEI lost a bundle when Jr left. I know a lot of Jr bashers don't want to admit this but it's so so true.

From what I hear (and I am nowhere in the know.. just what I hear) that John Menard may not sponsor the 15. Don't know if you've noticed but even though the 15 is still yellow Menard hasn't been on the hood too much this season. Looks like he is already cutting back.

Yeah DEI messed up big time in letting Jr go. Really I'm sure Aric is talented but he can't carry that team.

Aric is a nice kid and last year I felt really bad for him when JGR pulled him out of the 20 in the middle of the race to put DH in.. And he's been holding his own the few races he has been in the 8 but unless he can turn himself into a superstar by the beginning of next season he will not be able to pull in the money DEI needs to be able to keep up with the Jones'

You are all in for a big surprise!! You just have no idea who is REALLY going to drive for DEI!! And you will know soon, and it is one of the greatest big time drivers that will turn you all in circles! This driver wants to put DEI up and at the top and when you find out, you to will be rocked! They don't want Truex, for they have some very good drivers to come in and drive DEI to one of the biggest teams in Nascar! Just sit back and watch, you all will be in shock!!

OMG Richard Petty is gonna drive for DEI! LOL
Come on dude there arent any big name drivers that would want to drive for dei. I consider Mark Martin a big name driver and he is getting the hell out of DEI so what does that tell you.

I disagree. She had to to taken to court over Jr having rights to his own name. She made a mint off of his sales and sponsorships. I think she got the shock of her life when he hauled arse.I just can give her much respect.John Menard sure would not be much of a prize to sleep with guess she can see dollar
signs dancing in her dreams......
