I don't think the 5 is an option for Tony. Never did really.

Oh, that was just Smoke's smart A** way to give the media a dig... A little bit more to talk about. The old wild goose chase. I thought it was quite humorous myself.

What was funny was the people who were taking it seriously like it was ever an option.

I know, I was laughing my head off when he said it. I couldn't believe that people couldn't hear the sarcasm in his voice.

Hey, the man is looking for his future not just going to another team to drive.

Well, I was one of those who thought okay, the Mark Martin story was just a ruse. But I am certainly glad that Smoke is not going to Hendrick. I was having a hard time trying to wrap my mind around that possibility. And I was not liking it.

Don't want him to leave Gibbs either, but I can support him if he leaves Gibbs to do his own team.

But I was not liking the thought of Smoke at Hendrick.

I wouldn't mind seeing Tony at Hendrick. Hendrick is not as bad as people would like to make them out to be. But I do think it's not logical to have four superstars of the sport on the same team. I mean that would be a huge money maker but I just don't see it working out properly.

I have heard many people say that they would not mind Smoke at Hendrick.

I think it would be the biggest mistake of Smoke's life. Smoke like JGR wants to be the top dog. And being at Hendrick would not make him the top dog. He would be at 4th on the totem pole. And we have all seen how well, the 4th driver at Hendrick as fared.

No Smoke and Hendrick would not be a good match.

Smoke doesn't mind speaking his mind at the drop of a hat. He does not conform to political correctness. And corporate America spokesman he is not.

Smoke needs to resign with JGR or start his own team. But starting his own team has its own headaches. And Smoke wants to be in a position where he can win races and championships until he retires. And starting his own team does not provide him that luxury. By the time his organization would be as competitive as the other teams he would be ready to retire.

No Gibbs offers Smoke all that he wants, except ownership. And they have said they would be happy to help start his own team and he can continue to win races and championships while he builds for his future.

Frankly Mark Martin needs to rock in his rocking chair that was given to him 2 years ago. The guy
looks like a old dryed up prune. To take a ride from a young diver like Casey. It's just not right. Tony has alot more years because of his talent and candor. I only hope TS makes very wise and formidable plans that will benefit himself, not hurt the rest of his driving years.

1. He has a lot of talent.
2. He is a leader.
3. He is a great team mate.
4. He is a fine person.

There was no down side whatsoever to hiring Mark Martin.

Mark has all of your 4 above, but he was very sure he wanted to retire 2 years ago, he has had his rides can we not let a younger person take the reins now?

Exactly!!! Legal20 You are correct.

Mark Martin is one of the drivers who helped so many of today's Cup drivers when they were in the Nationwide (former Busch) Series. Even Tony Stewart has said how helpful Mark was to him.

The day Mark Martin finally does leave racing for good. Is going to be a very sad day for NASCAR.
