"Great opportunity for Grubb, but come on Stewart, don't try and take the goods from others, find your own team! "

Grubb does seem like one of the guys standing in the wings keeping things moving. With the right opportunity he could really step up, as he did during the Daytona 500 w/ Knaus gone (not like it really mattered).

Secretly I was holding out to see Eury released and Grubb becoming Little E crew chief next year.

What's up with that quote about him getting his own personnel. If Grubb chose to leave then is he really taking from other teams. People quite jobs all of the time to go to greener pastures. Hopefully these pastures stay green.

I think holding out for Eury to be released may be a waste of your time. Even though I do agree he needs to be gone. Doesn't seem like anything is going to change any time soon with that.

No more room at the HMS Inn for the Grubb, so I say "YAHOO!!! TONY'S GOT A GREAT CREW CHIEF!!" now we just need to get one for Ryan's car..

Exactly-Petty Enterprises hired Jeff Gordon's car chief Jeff Mederring (sp?) to be Bobby Labonte's crew chief. Jeff said he knew there would be no immediate opportunities opening up at HMS, so this was the only way he could move up.

I think Rick Hendrick made his bed when he demoted Darian to make room for Eury Jr. I hope Darian makes him "eat" the decision just like Kyle Busch did!!!

I LIKE THE PICK. I WAS IMPRESSED WHEN HE FILLED IN FOR CHAD. THO WASN'T HE THE ONE WHO DIDN'T WANT TO TRAVEL SO MUCH AND BE WITH HIS FAMILY? I MAYBE CONFUSED.

I don't think Rick is losing sleep over this. Jr has done a great job.

I'm waiting on hearing if Jay Frye is coming over to SHR as well. that will be a right person in the right spot as well. This would also free up Matt Borland to crew chief for Ryan. http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/cup/news...

Don't you all realize that Rick Hendrik worked this out with Smoke? Come on, think about it. SHR is a spin off of HMS. RH and Chevy are going to do everything possible to make it a contender. I wouldn't doubt if in 2010 when the Nationwide series goes to the new car than somehow JRM & SHR merge to become Jr/Steward Racing with Haas being completely out of the picture. Jr has already said that if the Nationwide series goes to the COT then there is no sense in not moving his cars up to the Cup series which he can't with HMS as partners. This would give them a 4 car team. Perfect solution.

It's funny how every time someone implies that Hendrick may be feeling the sting of his decision you show up to point out that Jr's doing soo very well.

Leader in the points standings versus 4th place in standings. 8 wins to one. You think he doesn't wonder if that was the right decision every now and then. I would.

Jr would have to buy out Haas for that to happen.. maybe JrMS will merge to give SHR more cars, but Haas is not going away unless he is paid and Jr is cheap!

I know that GM said they do anything in there power to get Stewart back in the bowtie and I given if the Haas thing didn't work out I betting we would have seen Tony in the #5 instead of Mark Martin. just a feeling I agree with ya Rick is a big Money pusher in this I bet.

Jr. has improved his standings over last season-but it's not like it would take alot to do that. At the press conference when he announced his decision he said the only true measure would be getting back into victory lane.
The season has showed how well that's played out..

And as far as getting rid of Tony Jr. changing things, didn't they try that at DEI once and it didn't work?

It is a good chance for Darian. I am sad to see him go, but I wish him all the best.

Why do people think that Mr H walks around boo hooing the fact that he dumped Kyle????? I certainly think that if Mr Hendrick wanted to keep him, he would have. Junior is doing great, not as good as Kyle has been, but he has been the top car at HMS for most of the year and I quite sure that Mr H doesn't regret it in the least letting Kyle go.

Of course I am far from being in the know but I'd almost bet on Rick & Chevy being a huge part of the Smoke & Haas deal. And I guarantee they are looking at the big picture not just a couple of years down the road.
