That's strange, as it shouldn't be a bout sides. Jr wrecked him plain and simple. The sides I guess is whether or not it was intentional which has been stated it was not.

Brian: Jr. Not only wrecked you, he also took out half of the damn field. He delibrate cause the wreck. And ruined the race for a lot of NASCAR fans.

Brian was surprised for two reasons. First, he knew he threw a hard block on Jr. even after Jr. had started passed him. Hard enough in fact that it knocked Jr. below the yellow line and got Brian's car wiggling some even before Jr. came back up the track. Brian thought everyone would bet in his case about that. Secondly, Brian felt in his own mind that Jr. was justified for hitting him back for the hard block that he had put on Jr. He was surprised because he knew he did have that many fans.
