Looks like Joe will lose Tony then. I just hope if Tony leaves he goes to another big team like HMS or that he succeeds in having his own team. I think he's smart enough not to run for a backburner team.

And could this be the deal breaker as far as Tony is concerned?

Don't know, but if he has his mind set on ownership and the Gibbs says no, then I can only see one outcome. Tony will leave.

Tony is a racer.. who wants to win.. the reason Haas CNC is offering him ownership is because they are not the least bit competitive at this time... does Tony honestly need more headaches? He wants to race for FUN!!
I don't blame JGR for not offering him ownbership.. that was the reason they went with Toyota in the first place was to keep the business in the family..
It seems crazy to me that Tony would even want to have to deal with NASCAR after he is not driving.. does he think they are any easier to deal with for OWNERS??? and he knows that for his entire 10 years with JGR, that he has had the cream of the crop working on his car, in his pits.. he has the best where he is at.. I will be embarrassed for him if he leaves it for ownership in a team like Haas. that is my opinion.

Jeff Gordon has half ownership in Jimmie's car, but does he have any headaches with it? it is not like he has to run the team.. Tony would be smarter than the guys at Haas so they would be needing his input.. Tony is already a multiple track owner and a mulitple team owner.. he prefers real racing to NASCAR.. why on this EARTH would he even WANT to own a part of that WWE-like racing organization?????????? It could very well bankrupt him!!!!

That's what I was thinking I knew Jeff had partial owner ship but not in his car he drives. I guess Hendrick wanted to keep Jeff without giving him too much? Hence letting him recruit Jimmie and have ownership in that car. I've never looked into that deal.

Maybe JGR could help him start up a Nationwide team. Something like what Harvick does, and he could maybe move Chrissy Wallace from trucks into Nationwide cars...just a thought

It's the Toyota vs. Chevy thing. One of the main reasons Jr didn't go to JGR. He will only drive a Chevy. Tony has the same commitment to Chevy as Jr does.

Then, you can pretty much delete him from buying into Petty enterprises as they drive Dodges.

Yep Petty's out... That's the one thing that Haas CNC has going for them.. That along with they use HMS motors.

I still wouldn't count out HMS. If Tony stays until the end of 2009, things could change there.

It would be an interesting prospect for Tony to become an owner of a Cup/Nationwide team.

the sad thing that I was pointing out is that this reporter got 2 big things wrong in his article.. that is horrible and that is wrong. I think until Tony wants to talk about his contract now, people should just quit speculating about it. it is not right for people like this reporter to put "news" out there that is incorrect..it starts rumors.. he himself has already spoken about NOT asking to get out of his contract.. how much time is he going to have to waste addressing this same subject? He is more than likely going to get angry at these idiot reporters who do not listen what so ever.

things may change at HMS by the time Tony's
contract is up. I heard a lot of rif raf over the weekend in dega. I do not believe he will go to the other team for part ownership. I do believe at a later date him and Jr will have a team. Opps
did I say that outloud.....

It may come down to who he feels more loyatly to....JGR or Chevy.

One statement he made that really caught my ear was that he likes the challenge of being part of developing a team (or something to that effect) that makes the whole team/car ownership so interesting to him.

I think the more offers he keeps getting the muddier the waters will be.

On his show last night he said that he has offers from many teams with all the engines . I thought for sure he'd go to Chevy but I think that's not so much the case anymore.

well, I think that Tony sees how when guys leave the series, they are sad.. they miss it and the people so maybe this is to ensure that he will always be a part of all these people..I just want him to be successful so it can be fun. He already knows that he is a successful team owner in the other series..so what the heck, whatever he feels like doing, I will just be all the more glad that I can be his fan all the longer

Did you listen to TS life last night? I'm not so sure he's not leaving to work with Chevy he said he had many offers with different engines. I wonder if he'd think of working with Bill Davis, I figured you'd know more then I would about that. I don't know if Davis would be interested in that but he needs funding.
Who do you think he would be maybe thinking of since he didn't let us know I'm speculating but really don't know. So I thought I'd ask you :)
