On the one-year NASCAR anniversary of the union between Lance McGrew and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., I could only think of one thing... Divorce.

even if McGrew gets replaced, what crew chief would be stupid enough to take over? because the next year they'll be talking Jr's poor performance again like they have with Eury Jr and McGrew

I saw an old movie called "Cool Hand Luke" that contained a scene where the warden of the prison camp made a statement to the inmates that is most profound to Jr.'s situation. It went something like "What we have here is a failure to communicate". Jr. has lost or never really had the ability to communicate to the crew chief exactly what the car is doing. Whenever the car isn't driving well and his crew makes an adjustment that doesn't completely correct the situation, Jr. becomes irritated and becomes frustrated very quickly. It's at this point that he has lost his concentration to the point he can not accurately tell the crew chief what the car is doing anymore. You can visually see this as it happen during a race. If the car is driving good, he is a totally different person on the radio with his crew.

It's not so much a slump as it is a reflection of his talent. he's been finishing where he should: mid-pack. And I think there's a LOT more room on your ship, lately.

slump or hump?

Jr isn't just loosing fans due to poor performance, but also because of his bad choices off the track. The boy is more interested in partying and screwing anything that walks, instead of winning races.

This is the conversation that might have taken place between Dale Jr and Brian Vickers, after Vickers' press conference on Friday.

Jr: So, you don't have to race the rest of the year? Lucky. Wish I had some of them blood clumps.
BV: CLOTS, Jr.
Jr: Huh?
BV: They're called blood CLOTS, and no, you don't wish you had them. They are very painful, and life threatening.
Jr: Yeah. So, how do you get them? I tried drinking a quart of straight-grain, but alls I got was a headache and a sore bum. No chest pains. Does exercise bring them on?
BV: I don't know how I got them, and stop being foolish. I'm serious when I say you don't want them.
Jr: I got Kelley to kick me in the 'nads real hard about three times. That hurt so bad I threw up, but I don't think I got any blood clumps. You read a lot, don't you? Do you think if I read, I might get me a blood clump?
BV: CLOT!
Jr: Huh?
BV: Never mind. Look, why do you want a blood clump so bad, anyway?
Jr: Well, you don't have to race for the rest of the year, and nobody's saying anything bad about you. You get to play iRacing all day and drink beer and chase women.
BV: Actually, I won't be doing any of those things.
Jr: HUH?
BV: No, I'll be working out, staying in good shape as usual. I'll be in the race shop learning about the car, and working with the pit crew. Just trying to learn more about the sport, and anything that'll make me a better driver.
Jr: WORKING? WORKING OUT? WHAT ARE YOU, CRAZY? You've been handed the greatest gift in the history of motorsports, and you're going to waste it? I am outta here, dude.
BV: See ya.
JR:(On phone) Yeah, you heard me right, Kelley: I want TWO quarts of grain alcohol, and wear your cowboy boots this time. Oh, yeah, and bring a copy of War and Peace with you...

This is so funny, people keep attempting to find excuses for Joonyer"s continued failures. It is not real hard to understand, Joonyer does not have the natural talent, nor does he have the will to improve and get better. Those of us who saw Joonyer come up driving late model stockcars never did have much of a belief that he would become a great driver, he was VERY average, at best, in the talent level he would show on the track. The only hope Joonyer might have was that the very strong will and drive of his dad would force him to work and somewhat overcome the obvious shortcommings he had in the talent area. Joonyer not only does not communicate with his crew chief during a race, except for the pouting and bitching he does over the radio and continued attempts to deflect blame and place it on everything from the crew, crew chief, car, track and even what he had to eat before the race.

If you really wish to see some of the reason Joonyer has not gotten any better or even regressed in his on track ability and results, just look at pictures of him and his competition over the past ten years. Mark Martin, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and most other drivers are well known for their workout programs and continued attempts to be the best they can possibly be. Joonyer is content to be, just that hick with the round shoulders who seems to fade at the end of every race and is still confortable in his wranglers, even though finishes in the 15 to 25 area is what most people have come to expect of the great #88. Joonyer is still living the life of a champion, while driving like a go or go home driver. Teresa had it pegged perfectly when she said, "Before you start acting like a champion, become a champion"!

They broadcast one communication a few races back where his crew chief asked him if he wanted two or four tires and his response was, I don't need no damn tires. That's great feedback there jr. Of course it was the funniest thing boogity boogity Waltrip ever heard. Glad he's gone for the rest of the season.

Yeah, I won't be missing Boogity Boogity Waltrip, too bad he didn't take Junior with him...that rest of the season with the hot air hype of all Junior all the time would be great.
