IF NASCAR would concentrate more on giving us some good racing, the marketing would take care of itself. IF fans buy tickets because they know they're going to see some great racing, they will buy the T shirts. We don't need a Barbie Doll standing out there to draw the REAL fans into the race.

Amen. Anyone that comes to a race just because Danica is in it, isn't a real fan. If they want to fill the stands, let them knock each others fenders off and stay the hell out of it, take the speed limit off pitroad. race back to the checkered flag on cautions and stop calling cautions for tear-offs blowing out on the track. Work more on the safety of the car and track instead of doing something to limit the performance of the car.

DANICA is one classy lady whether behind the wheel of a race car or behind a camera lens!

While I applaud anyone that gets in one of these cars, that is not what NASCAR needs. They give lip service to "returning to its roots", but that is all it is. I attended 5 races a year from 1975 until 2002. Now I don't even watch them on TV. Too many rules, too much manipulation of cautions, and no brand recognition. When I started going to the tracks, you could tell the make by its silloutte. If the car isn't in the showroom, it shouldn't be on the track! I think it is too late for many fans like I used to be. They might as well just move on to virtual racing, then NASCAR can manipulate everything without dealing with owners or drivers.

You are right. I feel the same way. I don't watch very often any more and only sometimes go to the Homestead race. The only reason I do that at all is when I bring the boat with me and fish in the Keys. The COT was the final nail in the coffin for me. Patrick will bring initial curiosity, and that is all.
