Did it ever occur to you that 'doing ok' is somewhat relevant to the situation, and not to be compared to 'doing okay' for experienced drivers? For Kyle or Kevin, doing okay is a whole other level compared to doing okay for a brand new driver. If she gets the goods and its only her driving skill that we're rating, then doing okay would mean in comparison to others who have good stuff and are driving their first time. NOT okay compared to those who have experience.
Did you mean to say that "doing okay" is subjective to this situation? I think it occured to everybody on the planet that it is relevant. Perhaps, you missed my point. It was that everytime one of these drivers from another racing venue decide to do NASCAR fans a favor and move to NASCAR, there is element of people that start the prognosticating of how good they're going to be and how they'll be kicking NASCAR butt in no time at all. In the words of Col. Sherman Potter "horse hockey"! Put Jimmie Johnson in the best equipment in Indy cars and he still has to learn to race the way they do and learn the cars. If Danica doesn't mind being the feature player in a high speed game of kick the can for twelve races a year, I'm good with that.

I haven't seen anyone say they will come and kick butt. Where is this? In fact I don't see anyone saying that about Danica either.

Still speculation.
Danica has been accepted already and she's payed a number of dues IMO. Now I think it would be really weird if she tried to be accepted as a guy. She's not. She's a female and she's good looking. You see what she does in adverts as being degrading? I look at it as being realistic. She is in fact what so many males have figured go hand in hand for so many years: Fast cars and hot women, only 1 better cuzz this hot woman actually drives the fast car.
I can not believe that some people are so ignorant of a point. My point has been, is and ever will be is, when Danica first came into IRL and Tony George attempted to cheapen her as a driver and promote her as a sex object, both Danica and her parents were angry. Who can forget Tony George's radio spots for the next couple of races after Danica's first Indy 500, they ran something like this, "You saw her at Indy and be sure to be at (name your track of choice) to see Danica's FIRST TIME. Danica and her family made George stop the sexual slanted advertisements as she wanted to be accepted as a driver and not just a cheese cake hype. Fast forward several years, Danica is married to her former physical trainer, she has had marginal success driving top five equipment for her complete career and at times has been better known for her little temper tantrums than her actual ability to win and now, Danica will dawn any type of swim suit and lean on any car, antifreeze of whatever product they wish her to hype. In my opinion, her handlers understand that she has about gone as far as she can go, as far as on track accomplishments in superior equipment. She has one win and is a top ten runner in a 23 car field, driving top five equipment. They understand that she has a window of opportunity as far as being able to sell, based mostly on sex appeal and they are making the most of it. I have nothing against what Danica is doing, however, I take her somewhat less seriously as a driver and more as a short, perky little model who happens to drive race cars.

It's apparent you weren't around these forums three years ago when Juan made his announcement and then the following year's small invasion of open wheel drivers. Now the same type of hype is starting to form with open wheel fans that hang around the fringe of NASCAR to carp and complain. What the old timers call "paying your dues" still goes along way with a drivers acceptance in NASCAR. Any high profile driver from another venue that comes into NASCAR is going to be under a microscope. They better be talented enough to take the ball and run it for a NASCAR touchdown pretty quick or be prepared to face NASCAR's regular fan's wrath. We're rednecks but not dumbass rednecks. We fully understand Danica's NASCAR adventure is all about money but we want it to be all about RACING!

Sorry Who...NASCAR isn't about the racing. It's more about the show with a racing backdrop. It has become a soap opera played out over a 36 week schedule. Danica is just one new cast member to add to the drama.

That must be why I miss the point. I don't really put her on track and off track things in the same mix. If she's a successful driver and a sexy model - those to me are 2 separate things. I dont care how much off-track stuff she does or how well she does it. It all boils down to a hottie in a car driving her ass off and to me thats all that counts. It's THAT story I'm interested in and nothing else.

Actually, her looks only make her more appealing to see in interviews, so bottom line is 'semi successful female open wheel driver coming to turn laps in NASCAR.' It should be more entertaining than Shawna Robinson, don't ya think?

That might be your assessment but to me, NASCAR is about the cars on the tracks going fast, and team efforts to get them across the finish before their opponents. The secondary nature of NASCAR for me, is about the individual drivers and teams performance, and finally about their finishes.

I'm far more impressed by an ability to drive REALLY close to another car at very fast speeds than any other aspect of racing. It was Talladega that drew me to NASCAR in the first place and no matter who's doing it or how they finish, it's that moment when the best in the business are side by side that I tune in to watch.

No matter what hype or drama there is or isn't, and no matter what fans think about NASCAR's presentations, I'll never lose site of that: VROOM!! Go fast. Don't give anyone more room than they need! lol

Why do so many NASCAR fans think that those who drive "stock cars" are the best in the business...or the world for that matter?
The top tier NASCAR drivers are the best in THAT business.

PMS, ADD, ADHD, what ever you want to call it. You girls are nuts.
Talking on the cell, putting on make-up, eating twinkies while trying to drive is something only a woman would attempt.

It's not sexism if it's true. How many men have you seen texting and applying make-up while driving?
