Hi - the racer racing now is my brother - my dad, "Bobby" died from Cancer seven years ago.
I have his address book and if you give me more info I could see if your friend is in the book?
Thanks, sis! In my haste to communicate, I forgot to say that my prayers are with Boris (and you) that he make a speedy recovery. I happened to see the fmaling Corvette on ESPN. A report said he had sufered 2nd and 3rd degree burns. I hope/pray that he will be OK.
John Truman's last address was in NJ. I have called that # but no VM. John lived maninly in NYC, San Francisco and New Orleans. He would be in his early 80's, if still on the planet. He was a Navy vet of WWI and Korea and shipped out with the merchant marine more than once.
I think he knew your dad in NCV. I believe I SW your dad once from John's pad. JT knew I followed SCCA racing as I had owned an MG-TD and an MGA. Also, I think there was a Deerfield connection. I was class of '52 and I thought Bobby might have gone there. Long time ago...
John was ann excellent artist. He had studied at the Cleveland School and at the Art Students' League in NYC - under George Grosz, the great German caricaturist, among others. He had agents but never had the big show or the push he needed. My sister, Nancy H. Kelley, had many of John's pen & ink sketches but they were lost in one of her moves. I met John through her in '55. They were briefly engaged but our dad said no way would she be married to a "starving artist" but we all remained friends for years.
I surely appreciate your quick response. Any info you can find in your father's old address books would be terrific.
Is it safe to put my phone number in one of these blogs? I live in Jensen Beach, FL.
