Older drivers, i.e. Petty, Labonte, Elliott, and others of the bygone days are just not up to getting the most from the race car they are driving. So why would anyone want to put Bobby Labonte in the seat of a new team that needs to perform in order to keep sponsers happy. And its not just his driving, he's not exactly Mr. Personalty. A great person admittedly, but not a winner.
And we the race fan can't any longer afford to spend 400 bucks for a trip to who knows where to see a race, so NASCAR must do something to make the sport continue to grow, or better put get it out of its skid.

I have had it with Labonte! He's lost his damn mind! First off, after leaving Gibbs and had great options such as (at the time)Ganassi and Penske, and chose Petty which was a stupid move, i knew from the get-go, and then has a chance to resurrect his career with RCR, passes to stay at Petty's, which folds, and then has an opportunity to get the best option open which is EGR, and he takes the shitty HOF/Yates ride, which neither team has won a race in the past three years! I really think Labonte's sanity has left him and he needs to be out of Nascar! Labonte, you are officially an idiot!

I like Bobby too, but this not a good move. I cant believe he would take this ride over the others that he had a chance of getting. The RCR ride he had an opportunity to get earlier in the season was his best option, and even though the 8 car needed sponsorship, compared to the 96 and 43 car, it was alot better option. Labonte will be fired by the end of the year, not because of his talent, but because the lousy equipment will make him regret it and HOF has done alot of drivers dirty, especially Brad Coleman.

This ridiculous pastime needs to be banned. It promotes bad driving and the outdated, obsolete cars waste precious fuel and create tons of greenhouse gases. What sort of message does it send to our children? Let's hope our new Global Warming Czar, Carol Browner, will take a close look at the adverse effects auto racing causes to our fragile environment.

This is exactly the response I would expect from a redneck tobacco-chewing goober from Tennessee. By the way, congratulations to you and your cousin on the birth of your fifth genetically-deficient child. Time for a bigger trailer.

To date, the 96 team hasnít done that much. It will be interesting. With Schrader, they had a class driver. Bobby is world class if you give him something he can drive.

I think this is an excellent move for Bobby Labonte. He had to go from Champion to second fiddle at Gibbs once Stewart heated up. then he drove the lousy equipment at Petty. Yates is on the way back up, and bobby can prove why he is one of the best drivers of the last 15-20 years.
