Good choice but my opinion, Kyle is the problem. I think it's time for Richard and Kyle to sit down and discuss placing a young and up coming talented driver on the number 45 to see that car perform.
Kyle you're a better manager and fit to build the foundation your family started.
Extend the racing business and build around it to make it firmer and stronger but leave the driving to someone else so we can see that number 45 on the winner circle.

I think nascar has reached it's "young talent" level. There are so many older drivers that still have what it takes to win. How about Ward? A proven winner, a past daytona 500 winner. How about Martin? Its clear that his relationship with roush in the cup series has come to an end. With the lack of tallent in the lower ranks, because the lower ranks are filled with cup drivers, if any move is to be made, it needs to be made in the dirrection of someone that will not destroy racecars week in and week out. How about Ted Musgrave, or Todd Bodine? If you have watched any of the truck races, it is filled with GREAT talent that has been kicked to the curb for these so called "young guns". The truck series is where the most exciting racing is happening. Why do you think Martin is going there for a full time ride next year? It reminds me of the days when racing was racing. Not just 43 cars that play fallow the leader week in and week out. To me the cup series has started to fall by the wayside. Bending over backward for the people on the left coast,by starting the races at 3:00 pm eastern time so the left coasters can watch the racing at a better time. All that is doing is making the east coasters not want to spend the entire day waiting for something that should start at noon. If you dont believe me look at the t.v. ratings for california. A track that has to give away tickets, just to make it look like people over there are intrested. Under little brian france Nascar is selling out. Selling out all of the fans that made nascar what it is today. I call em like I see em.

I agree bring back Rockingham.
I also agree with the veteran drivers. But let me ask you this, what's the difference with a young driver or Kyle, they both crash cars...it's happening a lot where he is involved in one on his own or happened to be in the middle of one.
I think it's better to hire and fire a driver on the car when not performing because it's hard to leave the car especially you being the owner.

Kyle is not a crasher. Kyle is is equipment that cannot get him to the front. Umpire is spot on when he says that the youth pool out there is not what you think it is.

Kyle can still peddle a car. Problem is, a driver is only as good as the car he peddles.

Kyle the manager must place the people and equipment in the right places so that Kyle the driver can win races.

I don't think kyle wads up alot of racecars. I do agree however, that Kyle and the Petty organization fell way behind the curb in the last decade. Resulting in Kyle running at the back of the pack . The equipment is there, hopefully the new nose that is comming in 07 will help. It may be just a personnel issue. By that I mean the comunication has got to be spot on precise, the over the wall crew must work like a well oiled mechine, Every time. The competition is so fierce, and the best crewmen are with the best teams. Lets face it not many people can do what those guys do in the amount of time it takes to be competitive. In any sport, on one hand you have superstars, On the other, the people that make up the rest of the team. There are not enough veteran crew superstars to go around. So we must rely on " young guns" or new younger talent. Maybe some ex pro football player that blew out a knee. He can still jack up a car. Or a minor league baseball player that needs something more. I can tell a big difference from the start of 06 to now. Even if the finishes don't show it, progress has been made. Now lets see what the effect of the new crew chief change will be. Good I hope.

IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE PETTY SHOPS IN LEVEL CROSS, NORTH CAROLINA THEN YOU DON'T HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE BASIC PROBLEM THAT GOT THE PETTY TEAMS BEHIND. IF YOU GO THERE YOU WILL NOT FIND THE ELEGENCE OF THE DEI SHOP OUT ON HWY 3 IN MOORESVILLE. YOU WILL FIND THE ORIGINAL SHOP THAT PETTY ENTERPRISES STARTED IN WHICH HAS BEEN ADDED ON TO HERE, THERE AND ALL AROUND. PETTY ENTERPRISES IS VERY LOYAL TO THEIR EMPLOYEES TO A FAULT. WHILE THE OTHER TEAMS BROUGHT IN ENGINEERS AND SHOCK SPECIALISTS AND SUCH, PETTY ENTERPRISES KEPT DOING RACING BUSINESS AS USUAL WITH THE SAME PEOPLE THAT HAD ALWAYS BEEN THERE. BY THE LATE EIGHTIES IT HAD CAUGHT UP WITH THEM. IT'S STILL THAT WAY AT PETTY ENTERPRISES TO SOME DEGREE.

Can you actually go see the original garage in Level Cross? If so, is there an address?

Yes you can see the original buildings, but what stands out is the new part of the shop. I think that speaks for itself if anyone is wondering if the Pettys are spending the money it takes to compete. I don't think it takes an elegent shop to win races. As far as Kyle is concerned he has earned the right to drive as long as he pleases. And I for one thinks he can get the job done. Go Petty Go.
