The only way to tell if he's over rated is wait until the end of his career then draw conclusions. It's not over yet.

Really depends on who's doing the rating. I'm sure some people would consider him so, but I'm just as sure that others would say not. My opinion of him is: Yes, I think the hype has out weighed the accomplishments so far. I truly believe that he has the talent, but is still lacking a little in the discipline to live up to it. What I mean by lacking in the discipline is; He seems to let a bad day linger with him beyond that bad day, to the point that it affects his performance in later races. He also gets frustrated to a degree, that team communication becomes almost non-existent during a race (Anyone who's ever listened to his radio traffic in a frustrating situation, should know what I'm talking about here.) I'm really starting to see some signs from him that he realizes these shortcomings, but realizing and changing are 2 separate things. I don't mean these things as insults either, just my observations of things that I believe have held him back so far. I've certainly been in that same boat at times myself, as I'm sure we all have. The guys who excel, are those who seem to be able to shrug it off and retain that confidence and drive through the hard times, not the great times. If Jr. can get to that point, than we may indeed see what he's really capable of.

It depends on what you're rating him on and who you're comparing him with. If someone said he was the best driver there has ever been, that would be overrating him. If someone said he was the most popular driver there had even, that would just be a fact, not overrating him. If you said he was the most widely known driver ever, that would be overrating him. Popularity and driving talent are separate things and because he has all these fans, other people should not falsely assume that all his fans believe he is the best driver ever. I'm a big fan of Jr.'s but I do not consider him to even be the best in CUP right now. I would say he is in the top 25% of all time and the top 10% of current drivers. For popularity, I think he is in the top 1%.

No he isn't. Having the most fans and getting the most attention is in no way a sign that your the best driver out there. It just means you have the most fans.

I would rate Jr. between 12-14 for best driver in Sprint cup thus far in his career.

I'll say Earnhardt is the 49th best driver at Daytona.

The best driver ever at Daytona was Dale Earnhardt Sr. He came so close for so many years but always blew it at the end of the race. He did this so the France family would be able to justify the ticket price increase form year to year. We are all Earnhardt fans so why would we not want to take out a third mortgage on our mobile trailer for a chance to see history (#3 winning the 500 ) When Dale finally won in 98 the game was over, so a few years later a new script was written with Dales cars winning.
Then Dale did the unexpected, he died.

Now we cheer on his kid from his second wife? His first wife gave the racing world, Kerry. His third wife sold the farm so to speak.

So that's the reason for the Dale Earnhardt Sr. statue beside Daytona USA.

Listen up Thunderchicken, Second place is just the first loser and close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades and nuclear warfare. Let's set the record straight, King Richard is the BEST driver ever at Daytona. Seven (7) time Daytona 500 winner King Richard. You remember him, don't ya? He's the guy with two Hundred (200)cup wins. He's the guy with 27 wins in one year, ten of them in a row, that guy. The best that ever rolled out on the Daytona track.

Not everyone can be Jimmie Johnson there's only one champion and the reigning champion is Jimmie Johnson. He is the only driver at this time that is not overated.

At the age Jimmie is now he's set to pass the King up.

Oh you mean the guy who stole a few wins from an african american named Wendall Scott.

I take it you like the King. That's cool. If you could read the sarcasm in my past post you'd know that I'm not a Dale Sr. fan.
