The fastest NHRA pass in history if I'm not mistaken was Gary Scelzi at a little over 337 MPH! That beat's your 221 MPH any day!

Do a bit of research my friend, Tim Richmond and the #25 Folgers team put one of those Porsches on the trailer at a promotional test in 1985 or 86.
241 plus mph in the Chevie vs 238 in the Porsche.
I'm not even a GM fan but I loved this one.

1987 358 cubic in displacement Ford small block fed by single 4 barrel carb. This approx. 5.9l engine at that time made about 650 hp, and propelled a 3500lb car to 212.809 mph. A 12 cylinder twin turboed 1200 horse power Porsche runs 221 mph. I would say that the Germans got some work to do.
