Ford committed to NASCAR, promises better times

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

Ford isn't giving up on NASCAR. After a dismal 2007 season that saw the manufacturer win only seven Nextel Cup races -- to Chevrolet's 26 -- Ford officials made a point Thursday to show their commitment to the ...

Getting back to basics, is running American cars not rice burners. The profits they make goes to the same people who tried to destroy us 66 years ago and refused to admit to this day that they were cruel and inhuman about it.

Even if the Cat in Hat got Henry the 4th himself to come down for media day, Ford in still going to be coming in dead last this year in manufacturer points. I'm thinking Dodge and Toyota is going to run better.

Regarding rousch and the Fords.

Everyone seems to forget there are 3 times the number of Chevys as Fords and twice the number of Dodges. So to start it is a three to one odds against the Fords regarding Chevys and two to one regarding the Dodges. I think Rousch has done a hell of a job since NASCAR is so heavy behind the GM products. If Rousch had tested at the non NASCAR tracks as the GM folks did (COT)he would have been fined and cost him some points.

I am afraid that the 21 car is going to struggle at Daytona. The Fords haven't been fast in testing and Doug Yates feels that the engine/gear ratio isn't helping. I hope that Jarrett and Busch post fast fast times during qualifiying. Bill will need to use a champions provisional if he has any problem during the 150's ( like a slow car ). It would be a real shame if the 21 car and Bill don't make the show.

You're right it would be a real shame not to have the 21 car in the 500. I'm not a Kurt Busch fan and I think it would serve them right if they had to use a provisional to get him in the race but I really want to see DJ and Bill Elliott in there and I'm afraid at least Bill is going to need that provisional.

Some simple facts:
1. NASCAR doesn't fine anyone for testing at a non-NASCAR track. They did allow Goodyear to sell the teams the same tires that NASCAR uses so they had to test on Hoosiers.
2. NASCAR doesn't give any auto manufacture preferential treatment. NASCAR wants the manufacturers involved as heavily as possible that's why they let Toyota in. Ford kept cutting it's support.
3. Fast and winner are not the same word. The fastest car doesn't always win because a lot of times it doesn't make it to the finish. Remember the turtle and the rabbit.

Money talks and BS walks in racing . Toyota will probably do a pretty decent coming in with their bajillon's of dollars and their army of engineer's. Most times it's all about the money and they got it. They bought a sucessful team like gibb's. Old Mikey Waltrip was just the clown that got their foot in the door. His only shot might be a plate race, thats kind of a crap shoot, any other type of racing he was average at best.

Hi Terry! Did you get some much needed and well deserved rest? I sure hope so. Well you and Gretchen have a fantastic night and an even better weekend, hopefully you can spend it together and watching the shoot out. I will pray that y'all get a break in the snow and you do the same for me, however I think I am going to be seeing a break.
Take care darlin!
