I find it strange that Sorenson was added to GEM with a rank of 32nd while Sadler was 24th. True, his record has not been what it was in the past, however, when you look at individual races, you will see at least three due to flat tires. I witnessed his 4th place finish at Infineon disappear this past June due to a flat. I will support him no matter where he ends up and if he does not get a ride, I will create my own hat and shirt showing support. Sure, it is a business, but to the fans, it is much, much more.

Elliott's cars last year were crap!! My 8 year old daughter has been heartbroken since the switch to Evernham or GEM or whatever the heck they are... She is a huge fan of Elliott's and even she has pointed out all the times he could have had a good finish, but the piece of junk fell apart on him!!!

I am angry that GEM released Elliott from the 19 car. He is a great driver with an even greater personality! He has not been given the cars to showcase his talent.....always in the shadow of Kasey Khane, whom by the way is not the great driver he's made out to be. So go ahead and give A.J. the 19 ride and hopefully Elliott will find a seat with someone who can really appreciate his talent and get him back to the winners circle!!

One of my friends, Mardeth, called me about this when she found out & the first thing she said was "It's Atwood-Gate all over again!" I just said "Uh-Oh" (Because I know Mardeth)!

I don't agree with this either. Sorenson never proved his worth to me, Sadler has.

What about the other drivers the article mentioned, like:

Scott Riggs
*Dave Blaney
*Joe Nemechek
Kyle Petty
Jeremy Mayfield
J.J. Yeley
Tony Raines
*Johnny Sauter
Regan Smith
Michael McDowell

(* indicates drivers I like)

I think at least 3 of them may be going Truckin' but the other may try to find a Cup or Nationwide ride.

...If I didn't know any better, I'd say the Sprint Cup Series is self-destructing!!!!!

What I want to know is WHY IS HE TRYING TO GET BACK IN HIS RIDE AT GEM???? I love ESad (secretly.. my hubby thinks I am a die- hard Mark Martin fan..if he knew I thought Elliott was hot, he'd never let me watch NASCAR again!) but most of his cars were junk last year!! He could have had a better finish if it weren't flat tires, blown engines etc etc. Maybe he's trying to teach them a lesson, but I think a better lesson would be getting a ride somewhere else and beating the wheels off the GEM drivers!!!

I agree...but there aren't enough open rides right now. He needs to get lucky and have something fall into his lap...or else the only other way will be to fire another unsuspecting driver so Elliott can fill the spot!

I hate to say this, but isn't this kind of what happened with Mayfield a couple years back??? Makes me kind of wish there wasn't a such thing as karma.

He's not as good as he once was but he's as good once as he ever was. This is where Sadler and all those other drivers someone mentioned are at in their career. With the economy where it is, drivers that reached this point in their life are going to find it very hard to stay in Cup other than as a "pickup fill-in".

Well, i have to say im a fan of Reed Sorenson, and im glad he left Ganassi, i just hate what team he left for, and i felt the same as Sadler. I didnt like Yates, i liked Sadler, i hoped he would leave, i just didnt like that he left for Evernham, which i thought was a mistake and i hope the same dont happen to Sorenson. I have to say every driver i liked that signed with Evernham, with the exception of Bill Elliott, has ruined their career and that's Riggs, Atwood, and now Sadler.
I like the thought of Sorenson in the 43, but i think Sorenson's problem has been he's been in inferior equipment at Ganassi and i think RCR and Gibbs should've went after him instead of getting Mears and Logano. I know if i was to buy a team(because starting a new one would be just about impossible to get to succeed), and i was hiring new drivers available, i'd hire Sadler and Labonte right of the bat and would consider Scott Riggs and definitely would go after Ward Burton and Sterlin Marlin. As far as young talent, i really like Jon Wood and Erik Darnell, and i think both of them would've been better options than Ragan for the 6 car and i think either one would've already found victory lane and probably would've made the Chase in 07 and 08. I also like Jeffery Earnhardt, Landon Cassill, Brad Coleman and Stephen Leicht and if i had a Nationwide team as well as a Cup team, then i would give Atwood and Kerry Earnhardt a second shot at a Nascar career.

I agree his cars are junk and that a ride at GEM is a horrible option, but for what's out there, the 19 car is fully sponsored at the moment(although ive heard talk of sponsors unhappy with the outting of Sadler and are considering leaving) and also the 19 car has a guaranteed starting spot for the first five races for next season because of the top 35 in owner points. I also have to say, with the only fully sponsored, guaranteed top 35 ride available is the 41, and Bobby Labonte is pretty much a virtual lock for that ride, then i think Sadler would just be happy enough to sit in the 19 just for 2009, and then he could be in the silly season rumor mill when the rides are available and not when all the rides and sponsors are committed elsewhere. Rides like the Truex's, McMurray's, possibly Mear's at RCR and Stremme at Penske, could be open and those are high quality rides compared to what's out there now.

I agree with your daughter. I am also a huge Sadler fan and there were times when I thought he was going to win (or at least come in the top 10). I kept telling my husband that they needed to get him a new crew chief and crew. They were not on top of things at all. I hope they (GEM) falls flat on their faces this year if they let Sadler go. Would serve them right.

Just to let you know. I am a HUGE Elliott fan. My husband knows how much I like him and I can still watch NASCAR. Don't let your husband persuade you not to watch. That what it's all about --good looking guys in fast cars -- or vise versa. I met him a bunch of times. He is as cute in person as he is on TV.
About his dilema. I agree that he has a horrible car, but the car is only as good as the people who work on it. I believe that his crew chief and pit crew were not on top of everything. I have trackpass on NASCAR and when I was listening this year, Elliott would say thing to his crew chief and half the time he would have to repeat himself. All Childress would say was "10-4". So it wasn't Elliott's fault. I hope he gets on a very good team, takes his sponsors and sticks it to GEM

I like the way you think, & I know Mardeth will too, because she also likes Bill Elliott, Scott Riggs, & Casey Atwood is her favorite overall believe it or not. If not for the fact that Kasey Kahne is still on that team, Mardeth might dislike Evernham completely.

Bill & Kasey are 2 other drivers I like. In fact, Bill was my first driver ever!

...However, I disagree on only 1 thing with you. I would not give Kerry Earnhardt a second chance. He has not shown me at all why he is a good driver, & I'll never forgive him completely for an ARCA wreck in 2001!

I do like the way you think though!...

Redneck is insecure and can be a real jerk about it sometimes, but I love 'em anyway. He has trust issues cuz mommy didn't love him enough (she really didn't. It's very sad.) It's better for me to keep my crushes secret cuz it really hurts him to think I am looking at someone else. As for E's car, I think they put too much effort into Mr. Golden Boy's car (Kasey) and not enough into E's car. And Mr Golden Boy did ok, but I bet E could've done better.

Well, i thought that Kerry had some talent, but i will say that the races that he was a threat for wins was plate races, and of course that runs in his family, so i like him, but i can understand your point but i'd give him another chance. I have to say though, the same arguement can be made on Mikey Waltrip, who i dislike quite a bit, and he's really only been a threat on restrictor plate races, and only has his wins there, yet Toyota and Napa continue, for some stupid reason, to back Mikey and give him a Cup career. Guys like Sadler and Bobby Labonte are more deserving of that ride than Mikey is, and even Mayfield, who i dont like but yet has won more races and made the chase twice, is more deserving of the Napa ride, it just doesnt make sense. I guess just because he's a sponsor clown whore, he deserves it.
I do disagree with you on Kahne, nothing personal, i dont think he's that great of a driver. I think Bud only signed with him cause he fit the market they were playing too, in other words, they sponsor him because of the dimples, not because of his talent. I thought, and have still do think, that Kahne was not a worthy enough replacement to take over for Bill Elliott and i can tell you i wouldnt hire him. Kahne in my opinion is one of the most inconsistent drivers out there and nothing more to me than a pretty boy. I have to tell you im a guy who only thinks talent should be the main reason guys should be hired to drive racecars, not marketability for a sponsor and Kahne is nothing more than a prettyboy with the keys to a Charger that sells Budweiser. I havent minded Kahne being at Evernham, i just wish GEM would've ruined his career instead of Atwood, Sadler, and Riggs.

Redneck (My hubby) isn't technically uneducated.. He has learning disabilities due to the fact his eyes cannot process light correctly. Words on the page move, disappear, and appear backwards to him. I think it is called Irlen Syndrome. It's not quite dyslexia, but it's close. He could have been very well educated had someone known how to help him.

I agree about the crew chief. Elliott did more crew cheifing than he did driving. He would tell them what was wrong and then they would question him as to what changes to make. DUH, you're supposed to be the crew chief you should know what to do. Nobody had to tell Chad Knaus or Zippy what to do when JJ or Tony complained. I complained about that all season.
