I see the doors open for Scott Speed to come on in!
I hope they put his butt in some Nationwide races first but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Ain't going to happen.. he will be at Charlotte testing the cup car with BV & Skinner. I can't help but think they are starting some of these guys in Cup way too soon. My opinion is NASCAR should require at least 1 full season in the NW series or at the very least the Truck series before being able to race in the Cup series.

I feel bad for AJ. He is kind of a cool kid and was actually starting to improve. He's just another example of going to cup too soon.

I think they all should do Nationwide first and then when they go to cup they shouldn't run in the Nationwide series anymore. That's only fair for everyone. At least he ran in Arca a bit and the truck series.

Yes, all drivers should run for at least a year in NW and/or Trucks before going to Cup.

I see NASCAR's point about letting Cup drivers race in NW as they bring in a lot more fans. But, I think they should limit them to no more than 5 cup drivers per race and each cup drive can not run more than 5 races per season. That way the NW regulars can reap the rewards of running for the championship in the NW series gets the exposure of the cup guys.

At least, Don't give Cup drivers nationwide points.
Let run as much Nationwide races they want. But, No point.

No points is a great idea.. but these NW teams, especially the stand alone teams need the winnings to help keep their teams going. The cup guys have more money than they know what to do with.

Allmendinger out of #84...to the #41? UPDATE 4: Could AJ Allmendinger be just days away from completing a deal to drive the #41 Target-sponsored car for Chip Ganassi? And did Allmendinger drive his final race in the #84 Toyota?(Yahoo Sports), hearing Allmendinger could well be out of the #84 ride after Dover with Mike Skinner running the car at Kansas and Scott Speed running some races in the car the rest of the season.(9-22-2008)
UPDATE: A.J. Allmendinger got the word Wednesday that he will not be back at Red Bull Racing's NASCAR [#84] team next year. He'll be replaced, no doubt, by Scott Speed.(Toronto Star)(9-22-2008)
UPDATE 2: Mike Skinner reportedly will test A.J. Allmendinger's #84 Toyota Camry in this week's two-day open test at Lowe's Motor Speedway near Charlotte, N.C. Officially, Allmendinger is still in the car for this weekend's Kansas City race, but that's very tenuous and likely to change. Skinner drove Allmendinger's car five times last spring as Team Red Bull called on his years of stock car experience to evaluate the #84. If Skinner replaces Allmendinger this weekend--or at Talladega or Charlotte next month--it will open the door for former Formula One driver Scott Speed to run in Sprint Cup.(He can run up to six races this fall and remain eligible for a 2009 Rookie of the Year effort with Team Red Bull). The shuffling is contingent on Team Red Bull working with Ganassi-Sabates Racing to get Allmendinger into the #41 Dodge currently driven by Reed Sorenson. Team Red Bull expects to confirm this weekend's driver lineup later on Monday or Tuesday.(Autoweek)(9-22-2008)

And we thought Silly Season was almost done.. Dang, looks like a lot more is about to happen. I wonder if AJ is out of the 84 early and goes over to the 41 to finish this year if Reed will end up in the 10 for the rest of the season and PC will be gone completely.. Wow!!

If AJ joins Chips team he won't have to get used to finishing mid pack or lower.

Careful with that information they're also rumored to put Mayfield in that car. We cover all the bases.

They don't fire drivers for being good. AJ sucked as a driver, and not enuff in other areas, that is why he will never have a ride in MASCAR again.
He was a loud moth too.

I thought from day one in October of 2006 that AJ moving to Cup was a stupid decision. It was Toyota’s first year in the Cup series and AJ had no experience in tin tops. The move was made possible by his personal relationship with Red Bull. Every open wheel fan knows how bad the decision was to move to tin cups. AJ was primed to be a force in open wheel but fell victim to the money. Hopefully the paychecks take the sting out of being noncompetitive.
Other than that your reply does not make a lot of sense. I expect more from you Megan.

Ha ha, oh yeah, Red Bull is going to take a driver away from their own team and drop him in one of Chips beaters, ha ha. Come on, get a clue.
