I wonder though why all the hubub because looking at the success of the Petty organization over the past ten years, I would not be overly wanting his advice. There is a reason why he had to sell his team. I know that PE had a rough time of it in years past, but there is no substitute for experience, and Richard Petty could always drive the wheels off a tricycle. He is a font of information for the guys, especially in areas dealing with driving through traffic and strategy/driving decisions.

It's time for Elliott to fade away and the resources be used for Kasey.

From what I understand, he is staying through his contract (2010) and making a decision at that time, based on the equipment that teams can put him in.
I can't blame him, though ~ racers want to win, not run 18th every week because the cars aren't working. If RPM gets it together, I don't see him going anywhere, but if they don't... he'll be looking around, at the least.
(just my opinion, of course! LOL!)

Kasey has tremendous racing talent but RPM doesn't have the goods for him to win in. He needs to go to another team. So young and all that talent, if he'd find the rignt team to drive for he would be a multiple time champion.

JMO but we could see Chrysler in bankruptcy and if they merge with Fiat perhaps scrapping all NASCAR rides. This could be why Kasey might be looking around and talking with others to see what might be available. Maybe, just maybe this is why Elliott is not very interested this year but I believe Elliott prefers to watch basketball and play golf with friends. He just isn't into racing. My other favorite David Ragan isn't doing well either. Geeze-this year sucks!!!!!
