It will take time but with his resources he can make it happen. Good luck to Smoke and Newman.

Hmmm..last I heard Jeff Meendering was going to be Bobby Labonte's CC. BUT since Bobby won't have a ride in 2009 (see link below),maybe things got changed up at SHR or the writer got confused~which wouldn't be hard with the 2009 silliness.

I remember when Wendy Venturini announced on Speed's Sunday morning show a couple of months ago - she stated that Jeff Mendering was leaving Petty Enterprises to become the "car chief" for the 14 car. I think the position is second in line to the crew chief. I also believe Mendering was a crew chief at Petty's, so not certain why he'd take a lower role...but maybe he saw the writing on the wall with what is happening there now.

I believe Tony Gibson is supposed to be Ryan's crew chief. They probably got it wrong in the article. Just thought I'd post this info - hope it helps.

Looks to me the best answer would be "It's up in the air until the first race." Too many changes to keep up with. Things change week to week.

I wonder why he doesn't create the best of both worlds. Move his shop here to Indiana. Indiana is the Racing Capital of the World. There's a fabulous racing education program here. He'd be able to recruit new talent and be close to his other teams.

I like how he gives 100% to this. Thinking about it 24/7. He's going to be a great owner.

You're a real jerk. I noticed on another thread you mentioned Tony's weight. Can you say you weigh the same as you did in your younger years? I highly doubt it. I don't know why the hell people are so concerned about Tony's weight. Why don't you worry about your own. I'm sure you could stand to lose a bit of your fat ass.

This might be the wrong thread for this question, but since Truex has been let loose, do you think Tony might have a third car next yr?
And what about Labonte. That came as a total shock to me. I knew the Petty's were having money problems, but I never expected them to let Labonte go. Any ideas?

I doubt Tony will add a third car until he gets a year of ownership under his belt. I think he'll keep it as simple as possible.

When he does add a car, I hope it's someone like Tracy Hines. He has solid talent and I think since his accident he has raced better.

I have to say, im not too happy associating himself with a criminal like Haas, but it's nice to see him back in Chevy's, as Chevrolet does have the best talent out there. Plus they could be getting back Bobby Labonte which would be great to see him back in a bowtie, just sux it's with the coldbitch Teresa. When Chevy has guys such as Jr, Burton, Johnson, Mark Martin, and gets guys back like Labonte and Stewart, and adds Newman to the fold, no other manufacturers has close to the talent. Dodge has Kahne and Kurt Busch, lost two teams, and adds Stremme and AJ Allmeindinger, that's pathetic. Ford gets Paul Menard, that was hilarious, and Toyota gets the supposed next great thing but so far has been a bust, Joey "Sliced Bread" Logano, and the Shrimp on the Barbie Marcos Ambrose, and the out of style with painted toe nails Scott Speed, well then i'd say that Chevy has the odds in their favor. I do have to say that Dodge could have Juan Montoya back, and in fact, id trade him back to Dodge for Sam Hornish Jr or another manufacturer i think has a good shot of getting Kurt Busch next year, as i hear he isnt too happy where he's at either.
