Time for the unions to get real, everyone else is tightening their belts but you don't see wage cuts at top union exec levels. never see them taking strike pay.
They have put themselves out there and now must pay the piper.

Go ahead and support an American company that out sources jobs. If the UAW werenít so greedy, then we wouldnít be in this situation. GM has to cut cost because GM employees donít want to pay anything for health insurance like the rest of us have too. Every GM Iíve had, has been a lemon. My Camry gets good MPG and doesnít break down 4 times a year like the GM vehicles Iíve had. Thatís why people buy Toyotaís and Hondaís, because of quality. Every time I read consumer reports, the Japanese cars are always ranked higher. Remember, we are in a consumer driven economy. This means we want to pay the cheapest and get the most quality for what we pay for. Do I buy American made? I try too (Camry, Whirlpool washer and dryer). When I buy something, I look for quality and GM doesnít have it. This also means not shopping at Wal-Mart. And how do foreign companies prevent entrepreneurs from setting up shop here?

Yea they paying the piper try and support your family on 12 bucks an hour and buy a house. In the Appalachian's they made a ton of furniture there, but that all went to China. So the big Fricking hero Toyota knew the area was devastated so they built a plant there and the wages are 12 to 15 dollars an hour. And much lower benifits. You can laugh if you want you go ahead an go in to all the US auto plants, like delphi and tell people that have been there 15 or 20 years with familys and childred to feed. That you have been outsourced to compete with Japanese company's .I would love to watch you do that. O by the way the union's at Delphi were will to go from 25 dollars an hour to 18. They told to take 12 to compete. the union said no and now the plant is closing. Get your wages cut in half Mr sunshine so you not inflated.

well, if you didn't notice...the people who run Toyota are, well...American's. And the people who work there are...American's. We have 2 Toyota's and they were both made in the USA. However, my last car (GM Product) had thousands of parts on it that were made in a foreign country.

I don't see why everyone is so upset about this Toyota thing. IRL runs Toyota's. Why is it so bad that Nascar wants to too? I think some "Nascar Fans" need to get their heads out of the sand. There are African American's, Latino's, and perhaps even Gay's racing in Nascar today! WHO CARES! As long as they are getting the job done - WHO CARES what they are driving. JMO

my generation has no choice - so don't try to make everyone feel like they are "un-american" just because they buy products that are made by foreign companies; in the USA - mind you! Anyone who shops at Wal-Mart thinks they are supporting America jobs. Ha! When was the last time you looked at a label from there?

My grandparents weren't rich, so they had to buy cheaper, more dependable products. Same goes for my parents and for me...unfortunately. One marter can't fix the problems that past generations/administrations created. Period, JMO.

For years I have heard how, it is unpatriotic to buy from Japan because of Pearl Harbor. Well, you know what, I am tired of all of the American businesses leaving our country and putting our people out work. It was our people who made the American companies the success that they have become.
So where was there loyalty? Stuck in an airplane on its way to China.
So I have no problem with buying a Japanese car, built here in America. And I certainly do not have a problem with my driver driving a Japanese car.
So until the American companies decide to bring back the jobs from China and other parts of the world back to the U.S. I will buy from the Japanese.
Did you ever hear of unfair trade pratices are? Do you what a lobbist is? I'll tell you it started in the in the 70's 80's Japan started flooded the market with their cars and bikes. The Us automakers were asking for Tarrifs many time to be on a equal playing field . Japan lobbist's won out everytime. meanwhile Japan tarrif the sh#t out of all our products . Even food back then, Japan put on tarriffs so we couldn't sell products. The only bright spot was Harley They finally got tarriff on Japanese bikes, It's the only thing that saved Harley. You guy's always say American cars aren't built in the Us anymore . Gee do you even have a clue why they have to outsource? It's to compete with Japan's company. And to do that they have to break all the unions here. Yes Union demands get out of hand at times but go back in this country without them. You said your tired of american bussiness leaving this country. It is because of country's like Japan and what they started in the 70's 80's etc. And guess what China is doing the same as what the Japanese did to us. Japan is going to be a joke compared to what China is going to do us. Buy what you want , But hey start reading and find out whats happening and read about unfair trade and lobbist's then get back to me.

I think I heard that Jaques Villaneuve will be driving in NASCAR next year. He is French, and a former F1 champion and Indy 500 winner.
Kinda sounds like a Will Ferrell movie, doesn't it?

Your generation better wake up because the middle class is shrinking. They are the backbone of this country. The houseing market is hurting big time repossions are at a all time high. New cars sales are hurting big time even your beloved Toyota. I am in the automotive bussiness. I see your generation every day, They are trying to buy cars and homes and struggling. Going to college they come out buried in student loans and alot of jobs they get don't compensate them enough to get out of debt for years. We half to keep out sourceing in this country, Japan did it first but isn't half the problem China's going to be . Wake up it's up to your generation!

Gee why did they have to outsorce. unions can get out of had but go back to when we didn't have them . You think Toyota's are a saint. They have a major class action lawsiut against them. Thousands of their motors are having terrible sludge problems and Toyota does not want to stand behind them and the warranty's. They doing there dammest to hush it up. O by the way Toyotas are having trouble with their new truck motors also . I am in the bussiness do some more reading!

And American car companies never had a major recall? Didnít Chevy and GMC put gas tanks on the outside of their truck frames from the late 70ís to the mid 80ís? What happened when one of their trucks got t-boned? Iím sure GM didnít want to pay for all those recalls or any other recalls theyíve had. Iím not saying Toyota is a saint by any means. No cooperation is whether itís American or foreign. All Iím saying is after Bill Clinton signed NAFTA, the American automakerís immediately went to Mexico and Canada. What happened to all the jobs that were here? Trust me, I live in a town where the economy was mainly union manufacturing. You donít believe me, look up Muncie, Indiana, where Borg Warner, New Venture gear, and a Delco plant have all shut down or will shut down in a few years. What was the one thing they had in common? I had friends and family who worked at all three and they all said the same thing, health insurance. For some reason they think the employer should pay all of it, not a portion and pay a portion like me. So now I will buy another Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord. Why? Theyíre American made not made in Mexico, Canada, Brazil, and Australia. Yeah, I read one of your replies and I know GM builds trucks in Ft. Wayne Indiana and the Tahoeís in Texas. All I am saying is that every GM car that Iíve had has been a lemon. I will give you credit about the trade policies in the 70ís and 80ís. I will also give you credit on the China trade policy. Remember one thing, as long as companies like Wal-Mart keep buying products from China, itís always going to be this way. And the ďcredit crunchĒ thatís going on right now. Itís from mortgage brokers giving loans to people that could never afford it in the first place. They call it sub prime and itís given to borrowers who have bad credit. As a society now, we never save to put money down, we always buy on credit or no down payment, so therefore we pay more.

Number one I never said american cars never had recall's I just said Toyota is no saint. Number two I argree with you nafta is just a big sucking sound of jobs leaving this country. Japan started our problems in the 70's and 80's with their cheap labor and you agreed. Now with unions you have to have balance, they did get out of hand and there has to be balance. The biggest arguement on Toyota is American cars aren't american made I adressed that before they have to break the unions and outsorce to compete. Health insurance is a big problem in this country. I own a bussiness I know I pay half for my employee's. Delphi was is 15 minutes away from me You didn't adress that. They were going to pay part of there health insurance and go from 25.00 hr to 18.00 hr like I said up above. They told the UAW 12.00hr and now there going to close the plant because they can't compete with Japan and the others. You are right there is a credit crunch I see it every day .I do credit apt's every day but job loss outsourceing and wage cutting has big part to do with it. We are losing the balence in this country you can't brake all the unions go back in history and see what it was like. I said this before in other posts Japan is going to be like a pimple on our butt compared to what China is going to do to us. You can't compete with Sweat shop labor. Just remember how this all started and you argreed unfair trade and cheap labor in the 70's 80's etc. It's free country buy a Japanese car let er rip. WE agree on some things and some we don't. I am not going to call you names or even get mad at you. but I am not going to buy a Japanese car they started this mess. I am a big Tony fan and like other driver's too. It's not Tony's fault Gibb's sold out. I hope for Tony's sake he win's the title this year in a Chevy. But next year I can't back a Japanese car. Next year Go Jr Go HMS.
