Does any body remember when Nascar paid Jessie Jackson and Magic Johnson to go away.
First it takes aprox 400 million to racing there wont be any minorities or anyone else starting race teams.
This wont be good for sponsers
Leaving discussions of Jesse and Magic for another day, I didn't see $400 M as the price for a team. The most recent numbers I heard was that a Craftsman truck costs at least $4 M per truck team and Sprint Cup cars cost $25 M per car team. Now,$4 M is more money than I have, but it's within Bill Cosby and Oprah Winfrey-type money.
In fact, what Black owners I've known of, they've been in Craftsman Truck. Nelly, Reggie Jackson, and Brad Daughtery have all owned racetrucks. Now, sponsorship money from Black-owned business may be trickier, trying to convince their marketing departments that advertising to NASCAR fans is worth their investment. It's kind of like what I've said of other sponsors allowing Black drivers to be their pitchmen.

My first post was on the racism and abuse put on this woman. How you twist this into a "who's better, NASCAR or F1" debate I will never Know. It's kinda like blaming Iraq for 911. Oh wait a minute Bush fed you that crap and you ate it like it was chocolate. I have to remember if you can't win an argument you shift it to something else. Stay on topic.
here is "YOUR POST" that I responded to:

You can try to take NASCRAP out of the south, but you can't take the south out of NASCRAP! NASCRAP will never compete on the world stage in any form of motorsport, with it's history of racism. America should be ashamed, but they are not. Too racist, and stuped!

I belive I was right on your topic and I think your now trying to scramble to find more factless comments because you dont like being proven wrong. Have a nice day.

If Nascar was racist she would have never got the job to begin with. It's all about money.
Dan, your comment implies that she PLANNED on doing this all along. With all due respect, why would she go thru the trouble of being in essence the first of her type to be an on-track official just for possibility of a law suit?

Did you happen to read what she went thru?

Have you ever been in an environment where insensivitive male co-workers exposed themselves to you?

Maybe you have but consider what you are. You are a white male (I presume). That sort of behavior would not affect you unless you were gay. So you cannot fathom the effect of that type of behavior.

These are good ol' boys here. Fun lovin' good ol' boys who felt that every junior official had to put up with their "sense of humor." They were not smart enough to reccognize that Grant was an offcial in a different package, protected by LAW from such behavior.

That is what law suits are about - A law was broken.

To say this is just about money is blowing it off as cheap. Grant told a relative about her experience in her first year, unsure about what she should do. She was going to actually quit. She then got advise to document her experiences in the case she was ever WRONGFULLY TERMINATED. By the way, one of the grounds she is sueing for is wrongful termination.

NASCAR could have fixed this. Any complaints could have been addressed, her termination could have been investigated by higher ups in administration. I am not saying that NASCAR is wrong here. That is for a court of law to figure out if it goes that far, but if NASCAR settles, then you can pretty much bet that she had legitimate grounds for legal action.

That is not about the money. That is about justice.

The laws of the land first and foremost PROTECT its citizens. Grant, you, me, any citizen. This is not frivilous, this is about an organization that reached out to minorities to work for them, but did not take the proper steps to provide a healthy work environment.

Whether or not she get 225 million or 225 bucks, this is a case where the consequences will make NASCAR better because beyond the money, NASCARS REPUTATION and standing in the American consience will bruised.

To be in the work evironment, day after day, week after week, year after year is about your ability to be comfortable enough to DO YOUR JOB. Mauricia Grant is telling you that NASCAR did not provide that level of confidence for her.

Because of Grant (forget the money) NASCAR WILL insure that the conditions under which their offcials work will change.

That is true justice.

Oh good grief! Here we go again! Just like with the Duke case...We've got Nascar convicted before all the facts are out. So I'll give my opinion! I think this woman is after nothing but money! I am so sick of these women who choose to work in a man's world and then whine about it. If somebody is messing with you...punch them in the nose!! This is nothing more than a money grab!
If you get fired for doing a lousy job all you have to do is holler "racial discrimination" Or...."sexual harrassment". This is why our judicial system is so messed up! I bet you dollars to doughnuts Nascar will have to settle with this greedy sorry woman for millions.
I hope she won't get a dime. Soooo sick of this kind of trivial law suit. Watch the Naacp jump on this crap! Like white on rice.
So...you have magical powers which automatically ferrets out the truth?

How in the hell do YOU KNOW WHAT WENT DOWN!!!

I hope she gets every RED PLUGGED NICKEL...and I hope ALL OF NASCAR'S dirty laundry is hung out to dry...

I laughed in reading your French. See? There's nothing wrong with the language, per se.
I've followed the Drive to Diversity program, as an affirmative action supporte. I wouldn't say it started "a long time" ago, but I'll move on. There have been so few applications accepted to the program that you don't have to take off your shoes to count each year's applicants.
In all honesty, I really can't blame NASCAR for the lack of applicants. Drivers and crew members can't work without team support. Teams won't hire without sponsorship money. So, it still goes back to sponsors still not seeing Blacks and women as their pitch people. Nevermind that Black athletes like Michael Jordan can sell sand in the desert, most companies still don't want Blacks and women to act as their public face.
NASCAR may have problems on other fronts in regard to race and gender, but I have to give them credit for trying to get Black and women drivers and crew members. Sadly, the jury's still out on this program, too.
Total mularkey! If you watch TV commercials you'd think america is at least 30% black. There are very few commercials with three or more people that doesn't have a black person.
Compare that with hispanics ... who outnumber blacks in america ... You rarely see a hispanic in commercials.

30%? No, the Pew Research Center for People and the Press studied commercials and the racial makeup of those commercials. African-Americans were represented in these commercials 8% of the time. Since 15% of Americans are African-Americans, these means that African-Americans are represented in commercials half as often as they exist in society as a whole.

Now, I don't blame you for claiming that African-Americans appear 30% of the time. The same study surveyed television viewers. White viewers claimed that African-Americans appeared in commercials at a higher number (24% on average) and African-American viewers (5% on average). There are many suggestions why there's that disparity between actual numbers and perceived numbers. When Whites see an African-Americans on commercials, there is a tendency to amplify its number since its occurance is outside White's normal perception. Similarly, African-Americans have a slightly lower number probably because of the perception that this appearance is the only one, a token, if you will.

The fact remains that sponsors still prefer White spokesmen over Black spokesmen, and Pew's numbers show that.

Now, as to Hispanics, most commercials geared towards Hispanic audiences mostly appear on Spanish language stations. Since most Whites don't speak Spanish and don't care for the programming on Spanish language stations, you probably haven't seen those commercials. Some call that narrowcasting. I call media ghettoization.

I don't know what you are watching, but I seldom see a commercial with more than two people that does not contain at least one black.

MTV aired 308 commercials with live models and 128 (33%) of these ads included African Americans.

I’m not a NASCAR fan I’m an IRL fan because I like ovals and open wheel. I don’t support racism or harassment and think they should be punished. But it seems like your dislike of “NASCRAP” has clouded your objectivity. Being American or even a “redneck” doesn’t have any thing to do with racism. If Americans are so racist how come Obama beat Hillary even in mostly white states like Iowa and might even beat McCain. Also what about all of the racists and sexists who aren’t Americans or “rednecks”. How come 2/3 of all top 40 radio is dominated by rap and R&B when most top 40 listeners are white? How come whites support the NFL and NBA when most players are black?

1. Look at the racism that Spanish F1 fans showed Louis Hamilton. Type racism F1 in Google and you get 182,000 results. Here’s the first one that popped up. http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/02/04/ra... .
2. Look at the remarks made in Bernie Ecclestone’s (a European) sexist phone call to Danica Patrick and statement about how women should be dressed in white like every other domestic appliance. Jenson Button (another European) made some remarks as did American Open Wheel commentator Robin Miller about women working in pit lanes being a distraction to men.

Obviously the same magical powers as you! Your last sentence has NASCAR tried and convicted so how in the Hell do YOU know what went down???

Go stand out there with all of the other lefties who will no doubt have a field day, as was mentioned. I really could care less as you can tell. Until everything is fully exposed, no pun intended, I will not pass judgement and I will always be a NASCAR fan. Why should NASCAR be any different than any other large corporation? You think NASCAR is the only company where this could happen, or has happened? Get real.

She was working in NASCAR because the France family is trying to convince the rest of the world and sponsors that it's hatred towards visible minorities are nonexistent. That is why when NASCAR races in the west or the eastern US you will see people of color singing the anthem or performing. You never see this in Atlanta or any other red state.
I am not a NASCAR fan but was recently given some tickets through one of my business distributors. There were a number of minorities attending the event and a number of minorities working in the pit crews. I saw no hatred or ill will directed toward any minorities.

I live in Durham, NC so I know hatred and bigotry first hand. However, it was the blacks and lunatic left whites that were directing it toward innocent white males. You do remember the fiasco called the Duke LAX case? Also, just recently one of our beloved black city council members was proven to have forced the black owned company managing our bus system to fire a white manager to hire an unqualified black. Do you think she was removed from the council? Thats right not a peep or a word.

Today the blacks, remember OJ, are the bigots and racist. Some say it is pay back. I call it ignorance.

You hit the nail on the head about the "lunatic left whites". Self-hating, brainwashed anti-racist whites are the worst race hustlers in this country today. If it wasn't for them, the black racists, including Jesse and Al, would have been marginalized long ago.

The anti-racist whites like to sugarcoat their politics. They call themselves "progressive". In reality, they are Communists. They use totalitarian police-state tactics.

Just remember, progressive = Communist.
