RICHARD'S SON IS DRIVING THE 3. He may run some nationwide races in the the 3 later on. Yes I believe the 3 will be back in Sprint cup.

There will only be one #3-
I agree that Childress won't use it, due to the friendship he and Sr. had..
I can't imagine seein a #3 car on the track again, sure do miss seeing that black car on Sunday's...There will always be a void there...

Maybe an Earnhardt should use it, but not RC grandson.

If RCR had control of it, then why did he let DEI borrow it in the 2000 Busch Series

AMEN you are right. he got booed & people hated him until he died then he became the greatest & that is the only reason people like his son.
I was sad that he died but he was NOT the greatest. Richard Petty was!11111111

I had heard somewhere that the 3 was gonna be on a Nationwide car at some point. I know its not the sprint cup but Sr did us it in Busch.

Dale Earnhardt would not have wanted the number retired. He would have wanted a young, upcoming driver to be in it.
I think if he could pick a driver to be in it right now, it would be Kyle Busch. He was Dale's kinda kid, tho if he was racing him, he would be knocking him out of the way, real quick. Kyle would be knocking right back.

Austin Dillons plans are to drive the #3 car. He is driving it now and plans to someday drive it in the Sprint Cup. He said it was his grandfathers number. Richard drove the 3 from 1976
to 1981..I know folks don't want it back on the track but according to plans it will be on the track. Different colors but #3.

I believe dale said he wanted a winner in his car (#3) regardless of who it was, he didnt want to see his car riding around in 30th.
