Nowhere in the article did they say nobody watches the first 26 races because points does'nt count. NASCAR must want eveybody to just watch the last 10 but nobody watches them because football season just started

NASCAR viewership has been declining for some time. In fairness, it isn't just a NASCAR problem, though. All major motorsports have been seeing their viewership decline, but NASCAR lost a larger percentage than F1 has. IndyCar is also down quite a bit.

yes , and in my opinion , the older fans don't like the chase , the racers should qualify on speed , no provisionals , back to real stockcars with motors that come in the cars , they are losing older fans an the younger ones are not going to the track .. they need to realize that this is nascar not a game show , or the WWE , and the announcers need to talk about something other than Sunoco , Goodyear , Danica and Jr ......

Younger people wouldn't spend the money to see these bore fests. All they want to see are the crashes on sports center.

The announcers need to realize that Hendrick Motorsports is not the only teams racing, the number 24, 48, 5, and 88 get more attention than any other driver out there, even when someone else is leading. Look at the headline Ryan Newman holds off Jimmie Johnson for the win at Indy. I believe Jimmie was at least 30 car lenghts behind Newman. And by the way let's eliminate half of the commercials.

Most of you people are dumber than the dipsh*t that wrote this piece of trash article. The major reason for the decline in viewers and track attendance is directly relative to the state of the economy. The blue collar fans that make the majority of NASCAR fans are the first and hardest hit when the economy hits the crapper. When a fan isn't financially able to attend the race in person, not too far down the road his interest in the televised event fades as his interest in something that he can be part of increases. As his financial status improves, his interest in attending and watching racing returns. Simply stated, follow the money. Years ago, I golfed every Sat. and Sunday, and if I wasn't on the course, I was watching on TV. As the cost of green fees, club memberships and cart rentals grew, I started playing less and less. I've played maybe 3 times in the last 5 years and haven't watched a round on TV in at least that long. Nuff said!

I see that TNT and ESPN didn't want to renew the TV deal with Nascar , because of falling ratings , another sign that people are not getting what they want to see in Nascar ....

There are a lot of good things at NASCAR , but they need to pilot ideas....dirt track, bikini cheerleaders, etc...woman aren't offended and men like 'em...shake it up...

Heat races?
