Throwing money at a problem means a lot of it is going to be wasted.

1. There should always be strings attached to money given to foreign countries.

2. If the Mexicans don't want us overseeing how they're
spending the money we give them, they should not take it.

1 and 2 above will take place the moment hell freezes over.

Dah you Think! If $1.4 billion got lost in study's for clean running water for the residents of the county, what makes you think that some of the $1.6 billion won't end up in our own law-maker's pocket's somehow? But ask the new head of the marshall's office and other head's of our federal drug enforcement agency's and they will all say they need more money to combat the "War on Drugs", a failed war on drugs! It's the same old spin.

"Read Dummies" is right. You bunch of ignorant morons haven't even read the article and you are already cluttering this site with your stupid, ill-informed comments. The point is that the Merida Agreement is more than three years old and the U.S. has not lived-up to it's part of the bargain, because after three years it has only barely delivered only 9% of it while Mexican police and troops do all the fighting and the dieing while American crack-heads get all high and American gun dealers become millionaires selling weapons to the cartels. To start with you guys are b i t c h i n g about a pathetic billion and a half donation to Mexico to a drug war that is in great part our fault while our government spends that amount in about two days in Afghanistan to fight a losing war in a country that nobody cares about. Mexico should be getting way more than this in help each years and our stupid politicians should not be stalling the delivery of these resources through bureaucratic arguments. Mexican Federal police and troops should not be patrolling the streets pick-up trucks, they should be patrolling in armored vehicles and we should foot the bill. They very well have my "five" bucks and way more.

They should use that money in the United States to Bust the drug dealers and drug addicts. This will surely be a much better Rate of Return. But since the US Law Enforcement is in on this they feel they can fool us again.

This is a Billion Dollar Industry in every major US City and US Law Enforcement do not want to Loose their Jobs!!!
