Another great example of the fine journalists that reside at the El Paso Times.

INTERPRETER??!??!

Do you idiots even proofread your stories before you submit them? Do you idiot editors even look at the STORY TITLE before publishing it?

Is incompetence a requirement for writing for the Times? Way to go, guys!

In the context of one meaning of "interpretar", the use of the word is completely appropriate.

"Interpreter" is the word Mr Cortes preferred over "impersonator."

Interpreter is the incorrect description of what the performer actually does. He does not sit next to Mr. Gabriel and translate what he says for others.

As a professional journalist, he should not merely call someone something on the shear basis that they call themselves that. You can mention it as the gentleman prefers that, but that is not an accurate description of what the man actually does. The man is a comedien and performer that does not "interpret" anything. If you say he does, you are merely skewing the error in order to justify it.

Come on, do your jobs right for once, times employees. Its bad enough you are running the newspaper into the ground.

I am not a critical reader, rather I prefer to be called a journalistic all monitor because I say.

Also, learn to spell interpreter, a-ok.

"Interpretar" is Spanish. "Interpreter" is English. Which do you, as a person who used "comedien", claim was misspelled?

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/interpret

Note Definition 2

"To apprehend and represent by means of art; to show by illustrative representation; as, an actor interprets the character of Hamlet; a musician interprets a sonata; an artist interprets a landscape."

Couldn't one say that Mr Cortes shows by illustrative representation the music of Juan Gabriel?

Isn't his act mimicing what Juan Gabriel does? Then that would make him an impersonator but if he is adding his own flavor to the act then I could see the use of interpreter.

Changing radically the topic...I always think it is a shame when someone as talented as apparently this singer is MIMICS someone else. Did he ever try to make his own career, free of Juan Gabriel? I know show business is a hard business, but apparently this guy is talented. www.dimequecrees.com

In my view, mimicry and impersonation are methods of interpretation.
