Are you happy because of the article?:(

However, if you read well, it says that it is about a decreasing in border crossing tourism, and that decrease is less than two digits.

Mexico in fact grew in revenues, and most tourist destinations, away from the border, continue to have high occupations.

The article state that, even so, is not so much that Mexico has "dropped", but that other destinies (mostly Russia) are attracting more tourism.

For me, it is a good think that "tourism" in the borderland decrease (less revenue to pimps and bar owners).

It already happened in the last report, that Mexico felt to place 13 in the list of world destinations.

Not so much because tourism to Mexico "dropped".

Russia and Austria have been doing a good work and got up the list, displacing Mexico.

Still, in the Latin American region Mexico is still the "superpower" of tourism.

23 million visitors against 5 from Argentina or Brazil.

Regards.

People are more scared of crossing the border areas where much is happening with the drugs and violence. Police also prey on the Gringo's more on the borders, big time. It does not effect the tourists flying onto beach destinations. I have friends in Tijuana and the massage parlors and bars hooker bars are packed. The guys get a taxi at the border and go direct to the bars. Pretty safe. It is the everyday people that are not crossing and buying trinkets, seeing the dentists, and business is down at the borders. Many of the places are boarded up. But the bars are popping. I read that many of the massage parlors and bars were closed in Juarez for a while because the violence had gotten out of hand. They are starting to open up I read also.
