There would be no major drug issue along the border if Americans would stop using illegal drugs. Because they are using illegal drugs, this makes everybody that puffs and snots co conspiritors in much of the murder of innocent people that goes down everyday.

Look in the mirror America. You are the problem.

To Uh huh:

Dr. Campbell is an extremely intelligent, individual with a genuine concern for the town of El Paso he now calls "home". He published this book in an attempt to educate the "misinformed" public (including you) about how our neighbor to the south got to this point(with our help). Until this knowledge is disseminated to the public, change cannot take place. Besides, your just jealous because he has command of the English language.

Point well taken. Only problem is the glamorization of doing alcohol and drugs by Hollywood not to mention the amount of cuss words used.

It's just another view, unfortunately the pipe and tweed coat makes some people think it gives them creditability. This is in general, not Dr Campbell, in all fairness I havent read his book.

While we are at it, we can blame Dick Poe and his sales people for car thefts. If he wasnt so successful, there wouldnt any cars to steal.

How is blaming drug users shifting the blame? Have you ever heard of supply and demand? No demand = no reason to supply. Users are THE reason for drug trafficking. It should be obvious, and it hurts my heart to have to take the time to explain.
Now, I have a feeling you're just trying to flame, which is troubling for entirely different reasons.

Terrible reasoning. I suggest you read "logic made easy." It's a real book, and I'm really suggesting you read it.

Just don't call for drug legalization!! It is bad enough dealing with drunk drivers who kill innocent people without compounding the problem with high people behind the wheel.

The solution is not to lower demand, but rather to decrease the value of their products through re-legalization.

How much crime do we have related to the drugs caffeine or nicotine. Almost none.
Why? Because they are legal.

Dr. Campbell is a very intelligent cultural anthropologist who has studied and researched this issue for more than 30 years. He is an outstanding professor, and I assure those of you who question his credibility, if you sent him an email or dropped by his office he would gladly talk with you about his research. In no way is he making a profit, in fact he is trying to correct the mis-information out there. Read the book. Go to a book store and read it for free if you have issues about paying for it. But don't make judgments via ignorance.

Drugs are for scrawny wimpy potheads. No to drug legalization. Drugs are for losers and their reasoning is even dumber.

What exactly has affected your reasoning so badly that you want to perpetuate this problem that you hate so much?

Wow, you are so smart. "Just say no", what a concept! I wonder why this has not been thought of before. Gosh, we could have solved this mess a long time ago. We don't need to remove the profit motivation if we could just get people to stop doing drugs. You are truly a genius.

It's my choice to smoke marijuana, I do not buy it from the cartel's, I do not steal your money or borrow money from you, I smoke American grown marijuana, I know the people who grow it, I've seen the plants, so why all your name calling? Beside's if you are so down on it why not print your full name? Do you have something to hide? Kirk Muse used his name, I use my name, I am not ashamed or do I need to further explain to you my decision to indulge. One more thing I started smoking Marijuana in Viet Nam back in 68-69.

Mexico is a major mess with or without drugs. If they aren't trafficking drugs, they're doing donkey shows, auto theft rings, trafficking child prostitutes and sex slaves, they're worshipping a skeleton and drinking blood. A major Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos is coming up, another day to worship their goddess Santa Muerte. They breed out of control which is another problem, no matter how poor they are, they're having kids at age 12 and popping them out every year after.

It's a failed culture, ever since they threw off Spanish rule they've been spiraling downward.

Those were the days! Marijuana growing 9 ft tall in the ditches along the roads. At first, we didn't even know what it was. Find out, we could buy a grocery sack full of weed for 10 dollars American. Everybody working on the flight line was stoned every day. Loading bombs, stoned to the marrow. Pilots red-eyed climbing into the cockpits. What a way to fight a war!

Of course this guy will blame America. He knows what happens to journalists and reporters who tell the truth. Blame Americans, get money from selling a worthless book. The truth behind drug smuggling is immense greed on the Mexican side.
