How dumb! Next time they may not return the way they arrived. You'd have to be insane to travel anything into Mexihole!

We live in Mexico and have never felt safer!! Compare the number of murders in Obama's Chicago to the number of murders in any Mexican city. If the US citizens did not use the amount of drugs they do, the cartels would not pass them through Mexico. Pres. Calderon is doing a great job.

Naive is the word. Travel anywhere and there is crime. Go to most developing countries and you have to pay bribes....this was no scam it was an out and out bribe situation. If you don't like it stay home, if you travel be aware. Anyone....and I mean anyone, who spends time in Mexico is aware of la mordida. It can get you out of trouble if you are really in it and sometimes it is just like paying a toll. Offer the officer 20 bucks on the street and everyone walks away happy.
Also, if you are confused....use that bloody 1-800 number on your passport to get advice. I live here and when they try the mordida, I give them my best spanish version of....momento por favor, necesito llamar el consulario ... no entiendo por que necesito pagar...and just like that they apologize and I am on my way.....READ THE TRAVEL ADVISORY.....and then enjoy your holiday where ever you go! I am travelling this week to Vegas and Cancun for business and I am more worried about Vegas when it comes to safety.
