The Sunset Limited goes through El Paso. The Texas Eagles picks up the three "cars" that are left in San Antonio and goes to Chicago. The Sunset Limited goes all the way to New Orleans. My father worked for Amtrak and we rode the train all the time. Amtrak took over from Southern Pacific in 1973. My father retired in 1983 after working 30 years as a porter. I enjoyed riding the train and my sister does as well. She prefers it to flying.

And you believe in the Tooth Fairy. Do you believe EVERYTHING you read? Why not trot your happy arse down to Union Depot and hang out there all day, every day this week and see if you see the Texas Eagle. When you do, let me know. Until then S*T*F*U.

A commuter train between El Paso and Las Cruces sounds like a great idea. Lawmakers, at this point in time, get on the Amtrak and discuss the possibility stated above.

I road the rain back in August from El Paso to Austin except for we got off in San Antonio...it gets complicated. It was the bomnb.com . You can drink on that thing all the way through. I recomend it but it's not cheaper than flying, it's just more convinient 'cuz you don't have to drive and you can drink. It was way cool. Try it and see for yourself.

The Texas Eagle indeed goes through El Paso. The Texas Eagle combines with the Sunset Limited in San Antonio and heads west. The two trains become one and certain cars are assigned to the Sunset Limited and others to the Texas Eagle
