I was ready to go ballistic on the Catholic Church until I read the bishop has come out against the sanctuary movement. One nutball priest has made some sympathetic statement, but not endorsed the program in play.

I wish these activists would stop massaging the words of Christ to fit their own needs, Christ exhorted His followers to give up all they owned to the poor and serve Him. I cannot recall one place where Christ tells Caesar to pick up the tab.

Start programs in the countries of origin, hock your house and televisions to do whatever you feel you are called to do to help the illegal immigrants. Just do it without my tax money.

The Church property needs to be seized as evidence of illegal activity. There is a separation between church and state in this country. That doesn't give the church the right to break the law. Once that happens, tough. Illegals are breaking the law. The only reason this church wants to protect illegals is to gain more power. Overpopulation is a tragedy, and the church is largely to blame. We need to shut the door before we are swamped with poor people who need more than we can give.

Did you read the article? At least in this instance the perpetrators are a group of nutballs who happen to be Catholic. The bishop of the diocese made it clear they were not operating under their authority, and that he did not support the movement.

The Church is just a bunch of freaks who manipulate gullible people to give up their money and do their bidding. Sometimes the freaks have criminal agendas. Lutherans are bad about illegals too. I think its time to press charges on all who aid and abett these invaders.

This one's simple. Revoke their tax-exempt status. As for the Catholic Church, their only hope of remaining a viable entity in America is to encourage millions of indigent Hispanics to invade our country and take over, so no wonder they're for the reconquista of the US.

The Pope's visit to the U.S. a couple of weeks before the annual May 1 march wasn't a coincidence. His "Pilgrims" should have been told to leave if they're here illegally, but oh no that sure didn't happen! I just cannot imagine my minister instructing people here illegally to further violate the laws. In fact I guarantee he'd never do it!

A church or group of church members should not be aiding people from any other country to be in the United States illegally.
This is breaking the law; and breaking the law is not a Christ like thing to do.
Yes, we are to help those who need help. But if these churches or groups of church members want to help those here illegally from Mexico; they can find ways to help that are not in violation of our laws.
They could; for instance; send money to those families in Mexico; once they are deported. They could help those families that way; rather than helping them to break the laws of the United States.
They could start some type of place for these people to go to in their own country; a place where they can go for financial assistance; to help feed their families.
There are ways they can help those "in need". But they don't have to break our laws in order to do that. And they have no right breaking our immigration laws to help these illegal immigrants.

How many people STILL think that the Republican tactic of mixing religion with politics is a good idea???

Not many.
