Regarding Caffeinated's comments - there are people who don't THINK period. In other words, the mouth or the keyboard is running but nothing comes out but garbage. People like that are not interested in a discussion, they just want to get a reaction. Also, Caffeinated doesn't know anything about the law. Truth is a perfect defense to a charge of libel or slander.(If you don't have a "good name" in the first place, you don't have anything to lose.)

As for Gary Jr, there have been no more US news reports. So even if the family is still saying that he is innocent (they know him and seem to have their doubts), no reporters on this side of the border are taking up his cause.

Here in Riverside County, all court proceedings are posted immediately on the Internet. This means that if a civil or criminal case is pending, the public can always find out exactly the status. Most US jurisdictions are not yet on the Internet, and this is also probably true of Mexico, so the outcome of Gary Jr's case is unlikely to be known unless the Mexican media reports the story and the US media picks it up.

Looks like Gary Jr is just another defendant in the Mexican judicial system, and the Mexican authorities are proceeding according to law. The flip side of the family's accusations of "corruption" is that the Mexican authorities are going to be very careful that Gary Jr's case is handled exactly right. And that may result in a conviction when otherwise he might have been able to work out some other arrangement, which is also the process in the US legal system.(US criminal cases are usually settled through a plea bargain, not a jury trial.) Remember the saying, "Be careful what you wish for - you might get it."
