John, you will be missed by many good friends. Our happy hours were a blast and our road trip to Mexico is still talked about.

May you be free now.

John was my childhood boy next door. My friend, neighbor, and classmate we were inspired to love the theatre by Sandra Harper, our mentor. We attended Texas Tech and had a blast. John had a way of making you laugh to the point of tears. There's not enough room to say it all. He will be missed terribly. He loved "his kids" and you know who you are. Know that he loved you and spoke well of you. God Bless each of you during this difficult time.

Many people know him as John Farr but I know him as the the neatest, funniest and inspiring 9th grade drama teacher at PSJA (9th grade campus), Mr. Farr. I had just started HS when I learned I had a theatre arts class. Mr. Farr was everything I have already mentioned and so much more! Because of his energy for teaching, this inspired me to become a Speech Teacher myself. I will never forget when I took a group of my high school UIL students to a tournament at Donna HS (where he worked after PSJA and before Harlingen), and I went up to his table to say hello and he immediately recognized me and said 'Hi Carmen' after about 15 years! Even though I was already a teacher and UIL coach, I still felt giddy to have my 9th grade Drama teacher, Mr. Farr remember my name!

Has anyone asked why he was murdered? I was told the young boy had his reasons and that they were in self defence. I really hope this isn't an open and shut case. I really hope the authorities do their job WELL.

why do you say that he had sexual relations with other students before? do you actually know that for sure or do you just hear high school rumors?

Mr.Farr was a lot of things, crude, funny, honest, trusting, talented, offensive, etc., but sexual relations with students? where do you get this from? did you personally experience it? I was in his drama class, uil student, did shows, etc. and never saw "intimate tendacies" towards students. Sure he sometimes came down to our level and possibly crossed some lines from teacher to student, no sexual conduct. Jerk.

You were told?!? In the current climate, teachers are guilty until proven innocent. If Mr. Farr was having inappropriate relations with students, then why has this not been investigated? In all the years that he taught not one allegation of a sexual relationship? That is not a behavior that just appears one day. He may have been too friendly in the eyes of some, but when a teacher sees a need to reach out to a child who does not have anyone else, why should they be looking over their shoulder to make sure no one is waiting to accuse them of being inappropriate?

I was so sad to hear the news of John Farrs death. I was sicken by the reckless remarks about John by Harlingen parent. This is tragic enough with out that!. When I rember John I think of when he was part of the campus ministry at Grayson county college. He just keep us all rolling with his funny antics. He will be missed for sure

Before retiring from PSJA, I had the pleasure of teaching next door to John Farr. In my opinion, he was one of the finest teachers I have ever known. John had an exceptional ability to "reach his kids" and this motivated them to learn.
In some of the previous posts, the bloggers have attempted to discredit John's good name. They should be ashamed! The John I knew was a Christian man who always wanted to help others. Those of us who really knew John are saddened by this tragedy! I hope the authorities, prosecutors, and jury will do what is right and not let a murderer go free!

Words alone cannot express my feelings for you. You were someone who I always looked to for inspiration Always smiling, it was contagious , by the way. I hope you have found peace, my friend. Please look out for me from time to time. You will be missed far more that you would believe, and ever imagine. You and you alone have touched the hearts of so many. I wish and hope someday that I can do half the things you did. I love you my, friend. Until we see each other again....Los Mariachi de Aesopo

I agree with you. I keep reading how he "lured" this kid. Now why would this kid go to his place?..and was he alone? Had this kids parents not taught him anything? Even with teachers, if a child or any person feels uncomfortable WHY GO? If this kid had any fricken common sense he would have found a way to escape and told authorities rather than resort to murder.(and BELIEVE ME, Mr. Farr was far from being able to chase anyone down). Maybe this kid was a QUEER himself (as everyone has been pointing the finger at Mr.Farr). Kids at this age and point in time are NOT stupid and they KNOW what they are doing and can get away with. John Farr was the victim of defenseless act regardless of what the situation was. And for those who keep saying "I knew Mr. Farr was a fag, or a 'preditor'ect.." does that give anyone the right to murder? I guess girls deserve to be raped for dressing the way some do. The fact is this kid had options! His was to murder. He should be delt with accordingly.

I am still in shock and disbelief. I hate all the ugly accusations being made about John. I just pray that the truth does come out and that people will be just as quick to talk about how everything was lies if his name is cleared!

He was an awesome man that truly cared about his students. Teachers like that are hard to find. I know that he has touched a lot of lives (including mine) in a positive light and will be missed by many.

I do not for a minute believe that John was a predator of any kind - I have spent many hours with the man discussing everything you can imagine and he never had anything but respect for his position and the students he worked with.

Drama is a whole different kind of experience - we spend a lot of hours together and become a family. Just like a real family we have our ups and downs. I am sure there were times when he pushed a little hard or came across gruff or harsh - but that is how he produced so many excellent shows - his students became winners on and off the stage because of John.

I still feel a little empty right now - Texas has lost a great teacher - and shame on everyone who makes accusations of spreads rumors - if you were not there and you did not experience something - please keep it to yourself because this man's reputation is being trashed without any thing to back it up! His debaters will tell you - you need a data, warrant, and claim to make a sound argument -- too bad it only takes a lie to ruin everything a man has worked for!

God Bless you John! My prayers are with his family and also with the kid and his family - for they also are facing a great loss...

Who is to say what is in the heart of men and women. I suppose the investigation will tell us all. Is it any wonder that there's so much crime? Why is it a crime to kill this man, when babies are being torn apart before they can defend themselves? People go to prison for lesser crimes, but it's fine and dandy to murder a child in the womb.

There can be no sanity for us as we ignore the killing of babies for convenience. It's just a matter of time until it's going to be ok to kill old people, or mentally ill people, or maybe just fat people or ugly people or people with blue eyes, or you get the idea. I guess it's ok to kill a baby if it would be inconvenient to take care of it.

The shame in this crime, is that the young killer didn't have the decency to kill himself too. No, that would be too easy. Now we'll have to listen to his sad story and waste time and money on him. Killers of the world, just eat a bullet and spare the rest of us the trouble.

I think that they should shoot this iresponsable teen or at least cut his balls off so he wont reproduce and make an example of it .I my self was run over ,he tried to kill me. he had a very long criminal record. he ended up in jail serving 11 years for this crime plus another crime were he almost kill another teen age couple . how many crimes do they have to commit so they can be sentenced or put to rest.they should make an example of thi bastard and sit him in the chair.!!!!!!!!!

My heartfelt condolances to all the family and friends of Mr. Farr. Yes teenagers that age know right from wrong and killing another human being is an egrecious act against Almighty God. This teenager should have spoken up if he had been violated in any way. Teenager should be charged with murder as an adult!

John may have been a homosexual, for all I know he may have come on to him. BUT, I know why that kid was over there. John was helping him out...he needed to be taken care of, the kid had prior offenses in a different town, wasn't being supported and was supposedly on probation. John also was known for being EXCEPTIONALLY friendly...that can be interpreted the wrong way when the person is a teacher and is homosexual.
We all have feet of clay.

The student went as far as stealing his check book, wallet, laptop and car, binding John, and stabbing him multiple times in the neck
No one should be judging.
Those who preach right and wrong should do so evenly.
