Hey I was just wondering of you guys made it back alive and if you did can you say what happened, example, people dead on the streets, areas of streets restricted by police for fires, murders etc, beheadings, suspicious activity during the nights

Well, as of now American Airlines does not have any direct flights this year from Chicago to Acapulco. It is a shame. We are still going this year.Violence is everywhere. In Chicago, everyday you see and read someone has been killed. Is it drugs, money or just it seems rage. Why, I do not know.It would be great if it all stopped

Just stay on the resort and at the beach as much as you can. Do not take a taxi. They are killing taxi drivers in Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta. Their bodies are pileing up. It is because either they won't sell drugs, or that they are selling for a competeing narco. A no win situation for them. Buses are safer. Travel in numbers. I would say you can go on sponcered side trips with hotel buses or tour guides. They do not seem to be targets. Do not go anywhere at night. unless it is a night excursion on a boat. Stay at the hotel. Do not let anyone try to do you any favors or save you any money. Do these things and you should have a great trip. It is dangerous, but you can highly minimize your risks. Do not use the desk security box for your valuables. They will rip you blind. In room safe is better. Do not get in a fight or offend anyone. My friends son here in Chihuahua did, and they shot him when he came out of the business with his friends. Do not be arrogant or get too drunk outside of your room. Have a good time!

Do you people there even know what is going on.
All you people do in Mexico is talk about nothing real. Do you know what is really going on. I mean the zetas are being taken out in record numbers on orders from the Americans.Almost every capo and boss has been hit ,captured or about to be hit. They have been confiscated of their drugs ,cash and anything else. Al those drugs have gone to america and most of the cash also. Why because everybody will have to pay up to the americano who will run everything.

Now that has happened to Chapo Guzman, Gulf cartel the Herreras from durango La Familia has been totally wiped out because the americano did not want them to exist anymore. They have stopped them Cold and toook out even their pirate clothes and cd's which now belong to the americano.

Now with that in mind that is why everybody has resort to what you described. these are people who now are out of bosses and out of jobs because their cartels have been taken out. So they are going on their own to try to get some. That means the streets are off limits untill everything is brought under control . That is being taken care of by all out hit squads and now the americans have forced all the Lawenforcements to go with them or get taken out also, that includes the feds and the military.

It makes me mad how you people could live right in it and not understand it is not Chapo or Calderon .It is the americans.

So just stay off the streets and everything will come under control very soon now. The cartels will all pay the americano and the americano will give them protection from others and the law,as long as they go by the american rule,to produce economy ,jobs and help their communtiy. But most of all quit acting like animals. This is not new. These people are the same people that were sent in to take control of the Italian ,jewish, Irish and black mobs in the states.

Now pay attention for instance these people here below were mencaes to society. For years they treated people like sh..t They controlled the area in the rio bravo area and did not know how to act . They treated everybody like sh..t and produced no economy what so ever. Now look at them . They dont look tough anymore do they?

I can't believe this is a legit forum with some of the crap I am reading hear...I know this is an old post but while mexico in general has been going through this for quite some time the tourists to all of these cities continue to have wonderful vacations.

Don't let half the knuckle heads posting here put fear in you 99.8% of any of the horrible postings are not happening against tourists!!

How do you know that! Did you talk to them all.

You may not get killed but if you are not careful you can loose the stuff you came with. You still need to take precautions and not get to friendly with people there. Believe me, I know because I live here also. Just look at the houses. They are razor wired, glass on the walls, rebar on all the windows and doors. A tourist has none of that, and your valuables are very accessible. They know they are either on you or in you room. Easy to get, because filing a claim with the police will get you nowhere. The crimminals know that! Just remember to always watch your back. Where I come from in the USA we did not even have to lock our doors and windows. However things are changing there also with the influx of new people. If you see large building with turrets on all corners, tall walls of cement, razor wire on top, and lots of lights you can be pretty sure it is a prison. If you drive on the outskirts of Acapulca, you will see poverty, and all the above mentioned protection. The tourists that swoop in are like a crop of money just waiting to be plucked. If the people in Mexico live like prisoners in their own fortresses. Well think about it. It just makes sense. A Lot of people have no problem and will post here about the great times, but the ones drugged, their belongings stolen, and so on, will not.

Sure buddy, we're going to believe you! instead of Concerned (American) who lives in Chih. with his family and who sees this first hand! We have afew people who advise us who know it's not safe as of yet for instance those that work tirelessly trying to make things work for both countries who risk their lives daily DOING THEIR JOB so you and I can relax and enjoy life a little better! What do you care? you probably own a hotel and want to "lure" us tourists to spend money so YOU CAN SURVIVE, with little concern about tourists' lives and who cares if they return home as long as they spend money in Mexico!

Sorry not an owner nor a renter or any of the above..I know that is the easy way to detract from someones postm just 1st hand experience. Quite honestly I could care less where people spend there hard earned money that is their perogative all i am saying is this hype is outta control that is all.

If I were a late night partier in some of these clubs out to 4 or 5am I would sing a bit of a different tune but since many travelers to mexico come on a cruise ship or stay at all inclusive resorts your exposure is next to nothing. And I am not just speaking for Aca but all the popular cities especially on the pacific coast.

When it is February and freezing up north I can't wait to get south of the border been doing it for quite a few years now without one slight incident..Now would I live in some of these areas with the violence not a chance I feel sorry for many who are subjected to this but 99.8% of most of these incidents happen bwt midnight to 5am log after I am tucked away....
