Yes for years, at least three years, perhaps three. Do not leave the tourist areas otherwise your severed heads may end up front page of the local newspapers. Seriously!

Me and my husband love going to Acapulco but have decided against going this year. We were there last November and have friends there. They are even scared to go out at night and it is getting worse. I would change my plans and go somewhere else this year... good luck

Me and my husband go to Acapulco at least once a year. The last time we were there was in November last year. Things are so bad down there right now I would not advise anyone to go. We have friends there and they say the danger is really getting bad. They will not even go out after dark and alot of shops have closed. I would change my plans to a safer place. I do hpe that Acapulco gets safer as I would like to return there. Acapulco is one of my favorite spots in mexico...good luck..

I'm surprised they haven't kidnapped more US citizens, because in their eyes ALL US CITIZENS are multimillionaires. I'm even more surprised that they haven't attacked a resort hotel and slaughtered the employees and tourist for not paying protection tribute.

To the people that are traveling through Jimenez, you may want to turn around and head back north to the US, because south of Jimenez is hardcore cartel territory; Gomez-Palacio, Torreon, Durango, Zacatecas.

No joke!

I live in Chihuahua City. Jimenez is a breeding ground for drug dealers also. Quite a few killings there. But Acapulco is a killing field right now. Slaughtering and butchering people left and right! I would not go to Acapulco period. Lots of killings and violence right here in Chihuahua everyday.

kill a mexican police officer you should get a bounty,i travel to mexico and have a nice clean older model car ,and those astards always come up with speeding or stopsigins running and no stop sigin in sight which means i pay with 20 bucks or 200 pesos. they are worth less, they even ask for money for coffie or sodas.

trust me if you do not have to go to mexico do not it is full of crooks and vacations why go to anyplace other than mexico.

This is what happened when people bury their lives into Facebook and tweeter and never "read" a newspaper of review the news of any type. They are lucky they now know instead of having to call mommy or daddy requesting lots of money and then being killed when the money is not enough or doesn't get there in time.

agree with you there. Probably wanted by one of the cartels as he probably works for the other one. He even hates his own when the disagree with him.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE LEAVE MEXICO IMMEDIATELY!!! DON'T SPEND ANOTHER DAY IF IT CAN BE HELPED--JUST GO TO THE AIRPORT AND LEAVE MEXICO. Very bad, how could no one have warned you? the government official, police are all corrupt, haven't you noticed all the commotion on the hi-ways bullet proof vehicles in convoys? all drug cartels fighting over the territories to run their drug businesses and clashes with authorities which are also corrupt. YOU CAN'T TRUST ANYONE! LEAVE, LEAVE!
