insuring instruments

Inspired by the HBO series, Tremé, my son and eight of his friends are working on a jump blues / soul / trad jazz nonet. Initial practices are beginning to sound great, and I can see these kids gigging in the near future if they find events or venues that can support that large of an ensemble.

What I find concerning is the investment that they have in instruments, and the risk of bringing it all on the road. Excluding sound gear and instrument amplifiers, this is what the nine of them are playing.

Yamaha YBS-62 baritone saxophone

Conn 6M alto saxophone

Getzen 3850 cornet

Yamaha YSL-620 trombone

Korg SV-1 piano

Nord C2 organ

Knilling 1331T Prague bass with Barbera piezo bridge

Benedetto 16-B guitar
Fender Jaguarillo guitar

Zildjian A Custom 13” hi hats
Zildjian A Custom 20” ride
Zildjian A Custom 20” sizzle ride
Zildjian A Custom 16” crash
Toca TPC-6 cowbell
Tama KA154 15 x 4” snare
Ludwig Maple Classic 13 x 9” tom
Ludwig Maple Classic 16 x 16” floor tom
Ludwig Maple Classic 22 x 16” bass.

Is it cost prohibitive to get insurance on this stuff?
