It is really sad to see such great humanitarians fall victim to such violent crimes. These artist have done so much for society and it is too bad that we all failed them by keeping them down.

So what if once in a while they chose to distrubute pharmacuticals on the street or make withdraws from the bank by jumping over the counter. If society gave them more options they would not have expressed themselves in this way.

With all due respect Mac Dre was very instrumental in getting the Bay Rap scene going. Just because you weren't keeping up with his moves. Too hard for the radio...r u serious? That was his FIRST hit. LOL! There was never a place to do concerts or promote music in the Bay safely in the 90's once Dre got out of jail. So they had to venture out and found places that loved the Bay music. Places that were mentioned like Oregon, Kansas, and ones that weren't like Seattle, Texas, New Mexico, Hawaii and Utah...yes Utah!
Dre and the rest of Thizz (Dubee, PSD, Miami, Kilo, Big Dante, etc) were branching out to these places. Dre never wanted to sign to a big label just to sign and go worldwide. He wanted to grow his Thizz label and focused on the places that loved the music and let the rest of the world come on board. And if you listen close rappers give it up to Dre all the time from T-pain, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne all who performed with Dre before they blew up and he was alive. Check yo history.

The music scene was hopping in the Bay Area, it’s just too bad that sampling other people beats and ripping off other artists music was not what people wanted to listen too back then. Maybe you were in need of that “underground hip hop scene in Kansas.”

And these names - Mac Dre, Mac Minister, Fat Tone – what is it with people trying to find this persona, reminds me of Pee Dribble, I mean Ditty or whatever the F he’s calling himself these days.

When the highlights of your career are….according to everyone’s peep’s MacGoogle and Fatpedia

"I knew that he would be successful….because he was really, really smart--a lot of just common sense....In prison, Hicks gained some notoriety by recording the lyrics to songs directly over the Fresno County jail inmate telephone.”

That shows he was putting to use all of that common sense!

“A notorious ecstasy enthusiast, he is credited with coining the slang verb to thizz, which refers to the state of being high on the drug.”

These are the things all great entertainers want to be remembered for! Natural Selection is what I call it.

Mac Dre, E-40

all the ever talked about was ignorant stuff
Nothing positive. Instead of talking about dealing drugs/using drugs /robbing/killing they should of used their power to influence people to do right. The sad part is that allot of people look up to these so called rappers..

I never really got why all of a sudden when Mac Dre died, they considered him to be a Bay Area Rap "factor" or "legend" in the rap game. With all due respect, he wasn't that well known outside of Vallejo. I am a Bay Area native, listened to rap music growing up (i am in my early 30's) and the only thing I can remember ever hearing from Mac Dre was "Too Hard for The Radio."
R.I.P. Mac Dre. but let's be honest, he wasn't very well known in the world when he was alive.
he wasnt even good! e40 was better and he did more for the community.
