Today's standards are alot lower...because there are so many more "mc's" as they call themselves.. it wasn't that easy to get a deal back in the day, cats had to be really skilled, or know someone somewhere..

T.I can't mess with Scarface, far from Scarface, but not luda. Out of all the rappers rapping today, the most clever lyricists are Weezy, T.I, Luda and Jeezy. Why? Because out of all those rappers named above, Jeezy and T.I are the only ones that rap about real sh*t, but there something about Jeezy that makes him doubtful. Luda is more skillful than T.I, but Luda fails to rap about the struggle and pain and all, he's mainstream, but if he made a few songs with a concept of 2pac or Public Enemy, then he'd be above all. And I must say taht Weezy got excellent lyrical skillz, but he don't talk about real sh*t all hood folks go through, he just brags, but if he got serious and just made a song with a message that make you think, I bet Weezy would be a greater MC. But until those MCs get off that pop-mainstream sh*t, Jeezy and T.I, to me, are the only rappers that deliver like rappers did back in the dayz because they rap about the struggle and sometimes about how they living after the record deal.

It just seems that in the last 10 years, with Yo MTV Raps off the air, the death of Tupac & Biggie, and with the glamour pop-rap starting with Jay-Z, Puffy, Master P, etc. that the tradition is broken. Everyone is just totally out to make money for themselves. Duets with pop stars, pop beats, producers instead of DJ's, videos and songs about riches & extravagent lifestyles, this garbage is what it has evolved into. and thats what Nas means about hip-hop is dead. Not that rap is dead, but the culture. I dont blame the south as much as a lot of folks do for the demise of hip-hop, it had already started sliding hard, and the south rap just has drug it down to a point of no return. It is so watered down now that R&B, rap & pop are virtually the same category now.

Scarface is easily the king of the south, but who really cares about the king of the south? the south is the reason hip hop is wat it is now... or one of the reasons.

If you think Nas won't destroy anyone in the south listen to Jadakiss, Ludacris and Nas rap back to back on the "Made You Look" remix.

I doubt there is a Southern Rapper that even thinks they can flow with Nas.

I like Pac. He's an excellent MC. Its like Halle Berry and Meagan Good and Janet Jackson and Thandie Newton. They are all beautiful but everyone has thier favorite. Yours is Pac. Mine is Nas. Pac's flow is more to your taste.

Yeah, it is all about your taste, but you cant question Tupac or Nas' talent. There are just some MC's that cant be questioned, and its just who you like better. And then there are some that you can question, and we could go on & on about those. As far as Tupac and Nas goes, they are both top 5 all-time MC's, I feel it cant even be debated, just who you like better. The one thing I can say (and it is very unfair) is that Nas has grown as an MC & has changed with the times, and keeps beating down any youngster who tries to come up on him. Tupac never got his chance & we can only imagine how good he could have been, because his talent & potential were without limits. It makes me sad sometimes when I really think about the hit that hip-hop has taken with the untimely deaths it has had, unlike any other genre. Think of the impact that Big Pun, Big L, Eazy-E, Tupac & B.I.G. have had on hip-hop.
