Director Gorman Bechard gave himself an odd challenge with his new documentary: How do you make a movie about the Replacements without talking to any of them or using any of the Twin Cities band's music? The result, "Color Me Obsessed: A Film About the Replacements," works surprisingly well.

Great idea, Don't interview anyone with the band, don't play any of their music, but make a movie about it. It's a can wait to not see.

I am think about doing the same thing with The Archies.

Like it, hate it, whatever, but how 'bout you see it first then write something intelligent? Personally, I loved it.

Haven't seen this documentary, but wouldn't wanna. In an interview with Paul they asked him if he'd seen it and what he thought about and he said
"I did. I recognized most of the people, and some of them I thought, How dare you, you shameful so and so? Why dont you get a life? I was embarassed by it more than anything, I guess. Wouldn't you be if a movie described every little intricate thing about your life? That thing, the R band, the 'Mats, they don't even really belong to us anymore".

I really enjoyed the made me want to listen to 'Mats music over and over again, as I did as a 13 year old back in the early 80s.

IMO, its all about our individual fandom of that great band and I find it incredible how we all can now reconvene after thinking that we were 'the only ones' 26+ years ago...huh?

Now I.can.not.wait for the same director's documentary on Grant Hart to be released.

Hopefully soon...TW-
