Because in my opinion, emos are kids who have no life experience, why would I take their advice?

Wow what a coincidence, Skinny Puppy's one of my favorite bands.
Well the Lansing music scene sucks. You get some ocasionally good bands, but nothing that I would pay more than 3 bucks to see. They're still stuck in the scene craze. One of the fetish shows I worked for was put on by Noir Leather, they're the first punk shop in Lansing, and they had alot of good bands there. But thats just what you get when you go to a show put on by a bunch of Detroit punks and Deathrockers.
yourself?
Well Im really supportive of all the local bands around here. Lots of venues lots of bars that bands play at. Tons of awesome punk in canada, we got the cobalt, pub 340, etc blah blah, they all play awesome metal and punk shows. Something crazys always going down. Plus being from vancouver you get to see all the big canadian bands, snfu, dayglo, doa, subhumans, so ya know its pretty sweet

Theres this one band called the Cartridge Family, thats from Lansing. They have something like 20-30 active members. The songs they play just depends on who shows up. No one really goes to see their shows for the music though. They have a reputation for getting thrown out of every venue they've ever played at. They already can't play anyplace in Lansing, or GR, and Their working their way through Detroit (I heard).
They would set off fireworks in bars and houses, and all sorts of other stuff. People would get in brawls. The works.

First off, why are you becoming so hostile?
Second off, being confrontational, and conforming have nothing whatsoever to do with each other. There are plenty of people willing to confront purely because their going with the crowd (Witch trials, Nazi Germany, etc) I'm sure if you werent so set on what you beleive and were to hear me out, you might be able to understand where I'm coming from.
"Otherwise we would be breaking the law"? The law is set for us all to CONFORM to. It is impossible to be a "noconformist" as you put it and adhere to the law. You are never doing anything truly original. You do something, someone else has already done it. You say something, its already been said. Its a pretty big world.
Don't do something because it goes against the mainstream. Thats just as pathetic as doing something because the mainstream is doing it. Instead, why don't you be an individual, be independant, and do what you please?
And third off, Don't get all your information from Websters Dictionary. Its not the ultimate Gurou of all knowledge and wisdom.
Hostility makes a point. That's why I'm using it. If I was all happy-friendly, nobody would take me seriously, because I'm some 14-year old loser who spends a lot of time trying to debate all the many different aspects of punk, as many probably think of me as.

Okay, rant.

Conform = Christianity. That's where the word originally comes from, am I right? Conforming to Christianity. It is impossible to have the whole "punk" attitude when you have the Christian rules, therefor all Christian punkers are posers, going back to what this topix is actually about.

Once again, you are taking my words too literally. If you didn't conform to the law, you would be put in jail, because being nonconformist doesn't mean doing EVERYTHING different at every chance you get!!!

Like the roads example you used:

Punk: OMGZ I'm gonna drive on the wrong side of the road because I'm so puuuunnkk.
*gets killed*

Even punks have to realize some of the concequences of nonconforming to everything that they could possibly not conform to. They're humans too, and I'd say some of them have common sense.

Also, all my information? I got two definitions of words, and suddenly my entire post has been founded on the one source of a dictionary?

I don't know about you, but my dictionary doesn't tell me what to say!!!

What part of your brain did you pull that from? Emos have no life experience, eh? Maybe that's why they are depressed and feel like they are misunderstood all the time.

I had a friend who was emo last year, and I'm going to presume you don't know any emos, because the reason she was emo was because of her life experiences. So that's just a WRONG presumption of you to make. Just wrong.

I didnt have any previous assumptions about you. I'm willing to listen to whatever it is that you have to say. Whether I agree with it is a different matter, so don't feel like you have to get hostile to prove a point. All hostility does with me is make it so that I don't want to listen to you. Thats the way it is with most people. Sure no one really takes you seriously at 14 (I'm 19, not much better). People don't really take you seriously until your over 27 and have a full time job. And even then its up for descrimination.

No, the word conformity did not come from Christianity. People have been conforming long before Christianity, hell, long before even Judaism.

The reason I made reference to your dictionary comment was because that was your source that you used. The dictionary term of the word punk is probably not even in relation to the underground music scene.

You just made my point exactly. We're all conformists, we're all non conformist. People who do the complete oposite of the mainstream are just as much conformists as those who go along with it because it happens to be in. They are both leeches. They cannot survive without something else to either follow, or stray from. Thats why its best to be the guy in between. Do what you like, whether its in or not.

I personally take no offense to the christianity comment. This isnt some personal battle with me. I'm a spiritualist. I blame Christianities followers for several of the problems we're having today, as well as the countless attrocities throughout history. Thats not to say I blame the religion itself, and thats not to say all christians are bad. Its just that a good chunk of them are ignorant, ill informed,(even, evil) pricks. If you rely on blind faith, your never going to progress.

I dont care what you feel or what youre going through, you can deal with it without looking and acting like an idiot. Believe me when youre older youll realize how stupid this trend is. EVERYONE has shit to deal with. Its a sorry excuse for an even sorrier fad that hopefully sooner than later will disappear.

Don't worry, it will. It will be replaced by something even more annoying though.

The thing is that most of these kids (emphasis on the word "kids") Have never experianced life. They look around them and see that everyone else is upset and so they follow suit. Just biproducts of the 90's. You know, back when everyone was on Ridelin, and anti depressants.

I mean, when you go to places like Eastern Europe, or Mexico, or even places as close as (well, maybe not to you guys up in Canada) Detroit, or NYC, LA, or Chicago. We all have it pretty good.

They're kids, they'll grow up.

Yeah, but the emo kids now don't aren't really thinking about how they're gonna look in ten or twenty years, are they? They're depressed. They can't really pencil in the sad thoughts about years away when they don't have to worry about that yet!

Sure, everyone has "shit to deal with", but some handle it better than others. Everyone's different.

Once again, this is totally off topic.

Precisely, they're raised in a generation where mom and dad are both at work so they get no attention. I mean, just watch TV, watch the news.
The only time these kids get recognition from their workaholic, self absorbed parents is when they either A. Attempt or commit suicide, or B. Blow up their school.

Is it any wonder that this fad became so popular?

As nice as that would be, I can't. Probation takes the life out of you. Plus those tests cost 25$ a week.
