Mamma Mia, Amanda Seyfried

It's funny what you buy completely onstage and resist completely, or nearly, on-screen. Case in point: "Mamma Mia!" - the ABBA -fueled stage phenomenon that has now become "Mamma Mia! The Movie." Of course I ...

Your review was mean! Don't tell me you weren't shaking your rump to Dancing Queen when Donna was running around carefree.

I just got home from seeing Mamma Mia...and I loved it....granted their voices were not the best, but they sang good....I wanted to get up and dance half the time....its strickly a chick flick, but a good one....everyone laughed....you can hear people singing and everyone clapped when it ended...that you don't see ever when a movie ends....I want to see it again, and probably will....now I think I will find my old ABBA cd.....Women/girls, go see the movie, you will love it....

this review hit it SPOT-ON! I was trying to put my finger on what I loved and (didnt) love about this movie and its definetly that it didn't translate as well on film as it does on the stage. WICKED movie producers... BE WARNED and please dont mess up our beloved green girl.

Back....I haven't seen the stage play, so I have nothing to compare with....but the movie was good....not the best, it's not going to get an award or anything, but it still was fun to watch and you wanted to get up and sing and dance along with the actors...You can tell all the actors had fun making this movie...I think its what you make of it....if you saw the stage show, then you are going to make big comparisons...but if you are going to just have some fun with your girl friends one nite...then go see the movie....it's strickly a chick flick, so go and have some fun.....

I'm an ABBA fan who saw the movie this weekend with my wife and daughter. I was a little embarrassed going in because of the grief I've taken for being an ABBA fan; but coming out I'd say my family enjoyed the movie more than I.

Not that it wasn't fun to hear the old songs again, or to watch Pierce Brosnan croak his way through SOS, but the frantic pace was a bit too much for the duration. I've seen movies start out like this, but usually they settle down; this one never really did. If you're going to see it, sit in the back of the theatre; otherwise the action on the screen will overwhelm the songs and the scenery.

Worst movie I have ever seen. Did not translate well to the "silver screen", terrible casting, singing abominable to the point of laughable. What could and should have been fleshed out in the movie was totally ignored like the island people who just show up ocassionally, never speaking or spoken to, singing. In a musical, they are the chorus. In a movie, they are ridculous as was this film.

i absolutely loved this movie. i cant stop singing the songs and am definitely going to see it again. me and my friends where laughing so much; especially when those villagers just popped out of nowhere. i havent seen it in theatre yet but to those who are complaining - you wouldnt be able to to do better so stop critiscising. its pathetic. its a film. get over it seriously !

Every movie doesn't have to be War & Peace. While it wasn't up to the stage production I saw in Chicago, it was simple and easy fun. Sort of the simple, upbeat music they should blare throughout the Tribune Towers while they're handing out pink slips, beginning with the Arts & Entertainment department.

Sit back, relax and try to stop yourself from singing outloud. It made the rest of the day an enjoyable one; and I'm usually a miserable S.O.B.

Saw the film last night - very good and well worth seeing. Not the best singing in the world but who cares - it was entertainment and you came away with a good feeling - the end is great - dancing in the aisles. Saw the West End production which was equally as good in its own way too.Well worth a visit

I loved it! I took my 14 yr old granddaughter and she loved it too. We laughed and teared up and had a blast. The whole auditorium enjoyed it... It is a chick flick, but is very well worth seeing. I actually ejoyed the movie probably more than the on stage production,(in Sacramento CA). The movie looked like they were all having a very good time. Go see it.

This movie, when the DVD is out, will be on my Top Shelf! Absolutely the most entertaining movie I have ever seen in my life!!! Meryl Streep is a genius...she can play any part to the hilt....she is 'one of a kind' and I admire her so much! She A#1 in my book!!! Anytime you come out of a movie and start dancing, that says something right there. Don't miss it!!

OMG - ABBA. For those of us who remember ABBA...well...you'd sooner have Malaria and rusty steel splinters in your eyes than be forced to listen to that for any length of time...you got that right.
