Good one! Seems the Dems are finally learning the gutter tactics used so effectively by Republicans. Another Joe Wilson? Not really. Grayson was telling the truth.

The Health bill says 'tax' when President Obama said 'not'

Obama LIED!

By CHRIS FRATES & MIKE ALLEN | 9/21/09 9:06 AM EDT
Updated: 9/21/09

In the most contentious exchange of President Barack Obama’s marathon of five Sunday shows, he said it is “not true” that a requirement for individuals to get health insurance under a key reform plan now being debated amounts to a tax increase.

But he could look it up — in the bill.

Page 29, sentence one of the bill introduced by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont) says:“The consequence for not maintaining insurance would be an excise tax.” And the rest of the bill is clear that the Finance Committee does, in fact, consider it a tax:“The excise tax would be assessed through the tax code and applied as an additional amount of Federal tax owed.”

The bill requires every American, with few exceptions, to carry health insurance. To enforce this individual mandate, the Senate Finance Committee created the excise tax as a penalty for people who don’t have insurance – and it can run as much as $3,800 a year per family.

The House bill also refers to the penalties for not carrying insurance as a tax. It calls for a “tax on individuals without acceptable health care coverage” and amends the tax code to implement it.

Obama Appointee Jennings Acted Improperly

Head of Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools Expresses Regret for Controversial Incident

September 30, 2009

A senior official of the Department of Education expressed regret today for an incident that happened when he was a young teacher in the late 1980s, saying he should have handled it differently, but that society could benefit from his error.

Kevin Jennings, director of the Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools and founder of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), has been criticized by social conservatives for a passage in his 1994 book “One Teacher In Ten.” At the time, only a few people knew that Jennings, then a 24-year-old teacher at Concord Academy in Concord, Massachusetts, was gay. In the Spring of 1988, a young woman who knew Jennings was gay, brought to his office a high school sophomore whom Jennings called “Brewster” in the book.

As Jennings wrote:

“’Brewster has something he needs to talk with you about,’ she intoned ominously. Brewster squirmed at the prospect of telling, and we sat silently for a short while. On a hunch, I suddenly asked ‘What’s his name?’ Brewster’s eyes widened briefly, and then out spilled a story about his involvement with an older man he had met in Boston. I listened, sympathized, and offered advice. He left my office with a smile on his face that I would see every time I saw him on the campus for the next two years, until he graduated.”

Jennings in 2000 told a GLSEN conference that Brewster told him he “’met someone in the bus station bathroom and I went home with him.’ High school sophomore, 15 years old. That was the only way he knew how to meet gay people. I was a closeted gay teacher, 24 years old, didn’t know what to say, knew I should say something quickly. So I finally, my best friend had just died of AIDS the week before, I looked at Brewster and said,‘You know, I hope you knew to use a condom.’ He said to me something I will never forget, He said ‘Why should I, my life isn’t worth saving anyway.’”

That Jennings knew of a sexually active 15-year-old, of any gender, involved with “an older man” and didn’t take steps to report that relationship to the student’s parents or to authorities has made him a target for criticism -- long before he was put in charge of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools.

In July 2004, before Jennings was about to receive the National Education Association’s Virginia Uribe Human Rights Award, Diane Lenning, head of the NEA’s Republican Educators Caucus, protested, suggesting that Jennings “did not report sexual victimization of a student to the proper authorities” and asked "Is it a good idea for NEA to honor as exemplary a teacher who engages in unethical practice?"

Liberals seek health-care access for illegals - Democrats give demands

By Stephen Dinan

Fearful that they're losing ground on immigration and health care, a group of House Democrats is pushing back and arguing that any health care bill should extend to all legal immigrants and allow illegal immigrants some access.

The Democrats, trying to stiffen their party's spines on the contentious issue, say it's unfair to bar illegal immigrants from paying their own way in a government-sponsored exchange...

Ensign receives handwritten confirmation

This doesn't happen often enough.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

Budget chief contradicts Obama on Medicare costs

By ERICA WERNER (AP)– Sept 22, 2009

WASHINGTON — Congress' chief budget officer is contradicting President Barack Obama's oft-stated claim that seniors wouldn't see their Medicare benefits cut under a health care overhaul.

The head of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, Douglas Elmendorf, told senators Tuesday that seniors in Medicare's managed care plans would see reduced benefits under a bill in the Finance Committee.

The bill would cut payments to the Medicare Advantage plans by more than $100 billion over 10 years.

Elmendorf said the changes would reduce the extra benefits that would be made available to beneficiaries.

Critics say the plans are overpaid, while supporters say they work well.

Obama says cuts to Medicare providers won't reduce seniors' benefits. HE LIED!

Democrats dishonest on Medicare cuts, disclosure and transparency again

WASHINGTON—Republicans argued health legislation would hurt seniors and Democrats said it would do nothing of the sort echoing Obama but the CBO contradicted Dems/Obama on that point Tuesday.

Budget Director Douglas Elmendorf said the cuts could reduce the generous benefits that the seniors in Medicare's private managed care plans enjoy.

Also, the GOP proposed an amendment that would have required legislative language to be available online 72 hours ahead of committee action on the health overhaul bill so Americans & Congressmen had ample time to read & get feed back from Constiuents.

- That amendment failed 12-11, by a narrow majority in the committee made up of 13 Democrats and 10 Republicans.

In other words, out of 13 Demoscats - Only 2 were Honest.

Ashton Carter is Obama's "Wolfowitz":

Obama appointed Harvard’s Ashton Carter to become the Pentagon’s chief weapons buyer (the undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics).

However, Carter has been an outspoken critic of weapons of all stripes for years with his chief experience being in eliminating weapons, not funding and creating them.

He has been an opponent of the military industrial establishment, not an ally — nor even neutral on the matter.

Industry experts are worried that his anti-weapons sentiment will make him an enemy to the very job he is supposed to be filling.

In a day when we have to fear terrorism as well as one where new technologies and the advancement of weapons systems to keep up with enemies is vitally important, Obama has picked a nominee that is against everything we need to be exploring to keep this country safe.

An anti-weapons advocate for our chief weapons buyer is an amazing contradiction… unless one means to eliminate our weapons systems, not to improve them, naturally.

Some other defense observers wonder whether Carter is too much of an academic. One defense insider said a senior Pentagon official worried aloud that the Harvard professor will prove to be “the next coming of Wolfowitz," a reference to George W. Bush’s first deputy defense secretary, Paul Wolfowitz.

Sources say the man known as “Wolfy” had little acquisition or weapons-development experience before entering the Pentagon, and approved a long list of bad program plans.

"He is not being brought in to help the defense industry thrive," said Loren Thompson, president of the Lexington Institute, an Arlington, Va., think tank. "He is being brought in to decide what we need and what we can do without."

On Iran

The Obama administration is debating its Iran policy behind closed doors. Last year, however, four of its key appointees wrote about the issue as private citizens, and their writings suggest they are already planning for how to handle a nuclear Iran.

If diplomacy fails, another Obama advisor wrote in the same report, the alternative "is a strategy of containment and punishment." That was the conclusion of Ashton B. Carter, Obama's reported choice as an undersecretary of Defense, who also warned: "The challenge of containing Iranian ambitions and hubris would be as large as containing its nuclear arsenal."

Graysons comments were on the mark but why? I'm sure the Republicans don't feel that way at all. The Republicans and Democrats "Demonize" each other because they are corrupt. To keep their jobs, they have become "radicalized" just to keep the money flowing in. "Lifers" that have been in office for Decades. These ideologies are ruining America.

The ironic thing about this, is cons are all up in arms about this speech, yet not too long ago, a con here on Topix outlined his view in healthcare with almost the very same exact words.(i'm going to try to find the thread)
Cons are willing to spend trillions killing people just to try to increase funding for the military industrial machine, but try to improve healthcare for our own citizens, and the corporations scramble to get FAUX News to rally the ignorant sheeple into thinking that the world is coming to an end.
You go Alan. I'm proud of you. Orlando is proud of you. Americans are proud of you.

They may have well died anyway.
