Frank Girardot: Michael Jackson's life not worth celebrating

Call me old fashioned, but I don't get the whole Michael Jackson adoration thing.

Holy cow - I dare say that much is being made, way too much over the death of a very lonely and tragic man, and I do agree that he should have been put to "rest" privately, peacefully and in a dignified and respectful manner. Alas the family of Michael Jackson just picks up where the media left off. The Jackson family, media and "fans" are making a circus out of his death. This "show" is for them, not for Michael Jackson. But, I wouldn't go so far as to say his life isn't worth celebrating. I'm sure his life meant something to someone in his family who did love him. So Mr. Girardot perhaps you are a tad bitter in your life to write such a heading - you know you just can't keep punishing him - it's over. His life was virtually ruined after his "acquittal". He lead a sad, isolated and often lonely life. Something was wrong with him. I don't condone what he may have done, I too believe he was guilty, but he's dead now. He's paid the price - he is no longer among the living. You can blame on him, but you can also hold responsible his parents, the media and especially the parents of the victims of his abuse and the jurors who knew what he was. They let him go.
It wasn't just Michael Jackson's fault. Really, even in death, including his family, all are taking advantage of the opportunity to make money. Still a sad day for the man who was so lonely - people still wanting to make the holy dollar. Sad, sad, sad.

This article is disrespectful to Mr. Jackson and his family. Mr. Jackson was acquitted of charges made by greedy parents. Many people took advantage of him and just sought to make money off of him. I do agree he was a very talented entertainer and was blessed musically and was a great dancer/entertainer. Give credit where credit is due but I also feel this whole mournig thing is way out of hand. If he was a private soul, then give him a private burial and memorial service. Yes, he made some contribution to the world due to his talents, but there was also another side which is not positive. Yes he appeared to have been a sad lonely person who had to have a very low self esteem despite his contributions to the entertainment industry. But all these memorials, closed streets, raffling of tickets, this is really out of hand and is just pure craziness. I am not saying I did not appreciate is talents, he does deserve some dignity and a realistic farewell done with humbleness and humility not like a circus show.

This is just a way to make profit off his death. Notice the increase of music bought that was his by people jumping on a bandwagon. Maybe there are true fans out there, but this is just plain silly to go this far.

...not disrepectful, after he was acquitted of the charges he reported on a TV interview that there wasn't anything wrong with him having young boys in his bed....he was doing it all "for the children".

I can't believe these MJ "fans" who complain about someone trying to sell a memorial/concert ticket on eBay. They claim you shouldn't make money at MJ's death....I don't see them complaining that the memorial/concert promoters are making a video. I'm sure they will offer the DVD FREE to anyone who request one.

I do not think many are disputing the fact that Michael Jackson was a very blessed talented person, he was controversial in more ways then one, but he made great strides, was entertaining, opened mny doors, motivated many musically. He does deserve some respect and to be memorialized, but the way it has gone, it has gone toooooo far. It has become a circus, and I still say, he was a shy private person, a blessed perfomer, but he was also a private soul and he deserves to be given that kind of service. We do not need another circus going on in LA. and sorry to say he was not a person of higher power just someone that was blessed with his talens from above from a higher power. He was a human being who had many faults as wel as him being a blessed perfomer. I am sorry his life ended so soon, but look at the other great performers who have died early in age. what sad and lonely lives these extremely talented people were - it makes one wonder why there was no one there to reach out to them - there is a reason why they were taken so early on in life - and here people are creating a circus out of someones sad lonely life - Give him dignity and let him rest in peace - not a circus.

Look on the bright side; when this hoopla dies down we won't be seeing his twisted visage on tabloids at supermarket check-outs any longer, won't be hearing about his scandals on tv or reading about them in the newspaper any longer and we won't be subject to that seemingly never ending sequence of "sad, embarrasing revelations" that make Norma Desmond look sane. It's quite possible that the related banking, law enforcement and entertainment communities are breathing a collective overdue sigh of relief.
