There are great movies, and there are great rock movies. "Purple Rain," Prince's first film, might just be a great rock movie, but it's no "Gone With the Wind." The movie has some definite strengths - Prince's acting, Prince's singing, Prince's songs and Prince's buddy Morris Day.

What an excellent flashback! Thanks. I remember thinking the same thing about the flic ... Morris Day and Jerome were a hoot and The Kid was a brooding enigmatic weirdo ... and seeing them live was soo much better than watching Purple Rain.
