Mayhem Festival: fast, loud and angry music in Devore

There are 10 comments on the San Bernardino County Sun story from Jul 11, 2010, titled Mayhem Festival: fast, loud and angry music in Devore. In it, San Bernardino County Sun reports that:

When it comes to music, I love all things hard and heavy. Sure, like any old fogey, my tastes have matured somewhat over the years, and I have since added John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme," Sonny Rollins' "Saxophone Colossus" and Gershwin's "An American in Paris" to what is now considered my antiquated CD collection.

Around 2:00 AM after the show, CHP officers had stopped in the #4 NB Lane and set out flares. A body of man layed motionless in the middle of the roadway. I have not seen any reports of the incident. Was it a fatality? Why is there no news? was it a shooting/ a hit and run, an accident?

What a wondeful venue to take your son to.Jagermeister stage? That's promoting alcohol.Nobody needs mayhem as there is enough on the public streets.Burning platic bottles are wonderful for your lungs.Ask any lung doctor. It's obvious that Joe Nelson is trying to be his son's friend and not his parent.

Exactly. Unfortunately, this seems to be the way-of-the-world these days, as I see it all the time: parents trying to be their child's best buddy instead of their parent! I really feel sorry for school teachers and others who have to try to do something with the youth of today, as, it seems, most of these parents haven't got a clue as to what real parenting is...then they expect the school systems to "fix" everything. And, of course, their children are never wrong! My parents would have NEVER taken me to a concert like this, and would have probably kicked my -ss up one side of the street and down the other if they ever found out I attended such a show. I used to think my parents were the toughest on our block, and I used to hate them for it. Now, as an adult, I can see how their strong family values and discipline helped make me what I am today: financially independent and highly educated. Thanks, mom & dad. The joker who wrote this so-called piece of journalism should be in jail for child endangerment.

Is our town so desperate for money that they have to expose our youngsters to this kind of crap?

Unbelievable! You people are questioning this guy's parenting skills when all he is doing is sharing a bonding time with his son and sharing in the same interests? Why not commend this guy for actually taking time to do things with his son, and being present with him and setting an example that you don't have to get high or drunk to have a good time at a show, and can go against the grain? Perhaps this kid will become a music writer or be inspired by what his father does. Of course, because you don't like the music and have your biases and exercise some kind of Nickelodeon fantasy view of the world which does not, nor ever will exist, you think you can presume tho think you are the experts on parenting. This is why you will NEVER know what you're kids are really doing after church and AYSO and all the other structured activities you shuttle them around to in your fucking minivans. Just go back to your Jim and Tammy Faye Baker reality and to listening to your U2 and your Dave Matthews band. Just remember: Some of the sluttiest chicks I've known and the biggest druggies and ne'er do wells I have ever known have come from so-called nice Christian families who go to church every day, believe the world is going to end every year, keep them locked in a closet and never let their kids do anything unless a "play date" is scheduled. Aye! You people are fucking nuts!

Yeah, an arrogant, one-sided judgmental douche. What a turd! What a waste of carbon!
