Okay, so Rob Halford gives Dave Holland his due, but completely sidesteps the issue of why they completely removed him from the "British Steel" documentary, not so much even mention his name. The move I think was pathetic and ridiculous. I Love Judas Priest, Dave's drumming is what inspired me to play drums; steady, groovy, simple yet tasteful for heavy metal. He was in that band for 10 yrs. and played with them at the heights of their powers, and he played with them on some of their greatest CD's "Classics" He deserves better, regardless of the what has transpired since. It was a crime backed up by very little evidence to begin with. Judas Priest certainly has experience regarding ridiculous legal entanglements. Dave probably knew that Rob was gay, now it doesnt matter, BUT in the 80's, that might've really damaged their career, perhaps a combination of Dave's fatigue and Judas Priest attempting to squelch a rather embarrassing situation, led to Dave's leaving and his eventual discrediting

Ok, so Scott (as Rob says) has been Priest's "Exclusive" drummer for 18 years (actually i liked him better in Racer X), But what ABOUT Dave! Man! British Steel and Point of Entry was essentially my starting point for priest! I'm talkin' 8-track and cassette baby! LOL! Sure , as a longtime guitarist myself, KK and Glenn had major impact on my metal chops, But it wouldn't have hit me as hard without Dave slamming out the whole thing! Yeah , i was kind of pissed too when i got the dvd "Making of British Steel" thing. Scott Travis plays "Example" of some stuff , like he was actually there! Sadly , newer fans just might believe it.

Glad to see some people giving Dave Holland credit for his superb drumming with Priest. People who criticize him for being "simple" probably don't get Charlie Watts, Mick Fleetwood, or Phil Rudd, either. Dave is by far my biggest influence as a drummer and I find his playing solid, consistent, tasteful, carefully orchestrated, and deep in the groove.

I have always been a little suspicious about the crime he alleged committed, too, as have many people who know Dave well (like Tom Galley). If he did it, then he's a disturbed and immoral person for taking advantage of the victim. But if he did not do it, then he's been destroyed and had his reputation ruined forever. Either way, a sad ending to a distinguished career as a hard rock/heavy metal drummer.

I like Rob's comments and I think it shows class on his part, as usual.

I also agree that Dave was wrongly convicted for something that couldn't have happened. Why was a kid writting a letter when he could have called home or e-mailed. A 17 year old that had a learning disability can write a letter, come on! I also learned my drumming chops from that man,Yeah ,he wasn't fancy but he was solid and him timing was bang on. He would not be the first person wrongfully convicted, especially, someone with money. I pray that he has support when he is released from family and friends. I love Priest but screw them for doing what they did to him. I have money and when he gets out I'll take care of the man if his finances are wiped out. I owe him that!.
God bless Dave holland.

Rob Halford sucks dicks and so do'es the guitar players so whats the deal with Dave and the issue of why they completely removed him from the "British Steel" documentary, not so much even mention his name.Thats just like guys in bands to turn there backs on players who get cought up in scandals like I was set up in a sex scandal and got time for something I did not do but the band still turn its back on me. I Love Judas Priest, Dave's drumming and les Binks where the drummers I liked along with Simon Phillips is what inspired me to play drums; steady, groovy, simple yet tasteful for heavy metal. He was in that band for 10 yrs. and played with them at the heights of their powers, and he played with them on some of their greatest CD's "Classics" He deserves better, regardless of the what has transpired since. It was a crime backed up by very little evidence to begin with the same thing that happen to me. Judas Priest certainly has experience regarding ridiculous legal entanglements. Dave probably knew that Rob was gay and every one knew it too, now it doesnt matter, BUT in the 80's, that might've really damaged their career, perhaps a combination of Dave's fatigue and Judas Priest attempting to squelch a rather embarrassing situation, led to Dave's leaving and his eventual discrediting.

I seriously doubt that Dave Holland abused anyone . As I understand it , he was a friend , and trying to help the kid . Something is really suspicious about the case , but factor in the fact that he was in a band called 'Judas Priest' along with Great Britain being a very religious Christian country (and judges possibly being more strict than in the USA), and you may just have a clue . having smeone underage stay the night at his home is an error in judgement ,and who knows why this seemed like a god idea ? Maybe he was friends with the boy's parents .

In any case I look forward to readin Dave's book , and hearing his side of it .Put yourself in the shoes of someone who's life has been destroyed by this , despite whether you like his drumming or not .I always thought he was one of the best .
