Paul Jakubson is a tax cheat. He renovated his house and put in an illegal mother-in-law apartment over the garage. He put in all the plumbing and then sheetrocked it in prior to the inspector coming by. After the inspector came by it was all cut out and used. He has not paid taxes on this for 18 years. He also shorted the contractor. I am sick of that fat bastard trying to come off like he is a good clean guy.

I don't know what press you read or watch but CSP is in more trouble on a daily bases than all of the local departments combined. I know for a fact that they are presently "investigating" several major crimes committed by troopers. When was the last time a local officer shot another female police officer. Watch what you ask for. All of these people are human. No matter who the Chief is, Madison will continue to have problems unless the bad cops are weeded out.

Small town cops - could these guys have "fit the bill" any better? Many of us have stories of when we grew up with this ilk - little fish in big ponds with serious power trips making them do stupid, stupid, stupid stuff.
The whole dep't should be cleaned out, let the CT Staties, who have always been professional, take it over until it can be restructured. All we're doing now is enlisting a bunch of under 25s with 22 weeks of training - sorry, but it's going to be really hard for ANYONE to take any part of this force seriously until they show us (Madison) that have done the right thing.
There will be more allegations, too. I can promise that. Entrapment? Harassment? It's going to be along winter for the MPD.
They are dirty, dirty, dirty.
BTW, "Special Agent" whomever - you are categorically wrong. Perhaps YOU should be fined? Defending this behavior may seem ok to you but if you had a teenage daughter in this town, you might just feel differently. CAN'T WAIT to see what Jim from Plainville does with you!

The conduct of a few Madison cops has, by association, tainted the public perception of the entire force. Or at least, we hope it is just a few cops. Hence the tainting...

But condoned by,or conducted in secrecy from, the management in MPD, this reprehensible behavior is beyond a little embarrassing. These officers allegedly committed crimes while on shift - theft, burglary, soliciting prostitution, and by paying prostitutes, contributing to criminal organizations and possibly even abetting a moey laundering scheme. All this when they should have been protecting the citizens of this town. The mere image of those idiots lining up for blowjobs behind a school my son attends is so disgusting, i would support firing the entire force and starting over, from Jakobsun all the way down.

And as for all you lamenting the lack of editorial letters being published, you've got to write them first! Then again, the Shorline News won't print them - did you see their last headline mauling Barack Obama's name?

Although I largely agree with you post, Sam, the problem extends far beyond the conduct of "a few" cops "... taint[ing] the public perception of the entire force." Between 20% and 25% of the force has now been charged with crimes and/or terminated for on-duty misconduct, with reportedly more to come. It appears that the majority of Madison cops are tainting the public perception of the force, and that the public perception is wholly warranted.

I believe that we ought to disband the Madison Police Department, and contract police services out to the State cops. Over 1/2 of CT's 169 towns use this system, and appear to be satisfied with it. Additionally, under CT. law, the State picks up a portion of the expense, so it will probably be less expensive ($5 million dollars is included in the upcoming town budget to pay these nitwits to get BJs, steal lobsters, etc.) I realize that the CT State Police has problems as well, but what could be worse that the situation we now have?

I got pulled over by one of these infamous jerks tonight. The worst part is we were on our way home from going shopping to buy a vanity we put it in the backseat of our old car yes its a 91 corolla lol. So we drove down by the water for a second which we do often and coming back from the wharf area this cop speeds from our right and almost hits us. We stopped and kept going. He went the other way. Now we have him behind us behind another car all the way through town etc.. The flashy expensive lit up like Christmas tree Mercedes makes his left turn and lucky me now the wonderful policeman is behind me. Guess what. Yup he pulled me over!!! Do you know why?? My light was out near my license plate. Yes thats why so now he questions where we were where we were coming from I neglected to remind him he knew because he had almost hit us. So now he asks my passenger for his license and if hes carrying a weapon. Then he goes and asks me ok so is this car all legal like insurance registered etc as I am handing him the Registration. yes it is....are you sure? YES IM SURE!!! Now im pissed. And imagine all of this for a license plate light. Here comes another one now LOL now I had two of them. So he comes and gives me a warning for my light LOL and then continues so whats in the box??? I said a damned sink and cabinet for my bathroom you wanna see the damned receipt from Lowes?????????? Noooo thats ok. I said well its pretty awful to get pulled over for absolutely nothing and then put through the ringer because I have a old car. And he left. I am going to the PD to complain about the way he acted as though were are criminals.

Your passenger was under no obligation to produce his driver's license (or to be a licensed driver), and you were under no obligation to disclose what was in the box. I would have told the Police Officer that these subjects were none of his business.

These bozos are great at harassing people for minor traffic violations and harassing people who are doing nothing illegal, meanwhile, actual criminals are undisturbed, e.g., the guy who attempted to rob a bank last week, and walked away unapprehended.

The citizens of Madison are increasing seeing the MPD for what it is, a taxpayer-supported boondoggle, with nothing but aggravation and criminality in return.

Whomever wrote this, stop by and see me, say what you will to my face, not a nameless, faceless posting. I doubt if you have the moral fiber to face me and say what you want, mostly because you seem far to juevenile, but also because I might tell you the TRUTH about what happened, not the so called "news" stories you have read. So again I say, come face me if you want the truth and are mature enough. However, come prepared to hear the real story, you may not like what you find out. In any case, see me or get a life and let me move on with mine.

Yet another intellectual! I hope and pray that none of you, who so readily post here and hide behind names such as "Jim", MadMom", etc.never make a mistake in life. Or make a bad choice, or take the wrong path. I did, I made some poor choices and decisions, but I did not make them alone! No, I had help in making them. But noone then, or now, wants to hear about the other person who helped me make those choices. None of you want the truth, since if you did, you would come and ask me, instead of poking fun from behind some made up name. I made my errors, I paid my dues and did my pennance(sic), as it were. Now you can be a mature, human being and come ask me face to face, or be even more "adult" about things and leave me alone, or you can continue to be juevenile and write a few more things about me from behind your protective shields. In any case its' been nearly 9 years since I left that slice of heaven known as "Madison". Do you all want me to come back that much that you can't stop talking about me, or are your own lives so insignificant, boring, and useless that the only way to make yourselves feel good is to continue to attack a man who basically "died" 9 years ago!!! Have a safe day!

Last time I checked, having a light out was grounds for stopping someone.

Yes, a license plate light being out is grounds for stopping a vehicle. Asking the motorist for his license, registration, and proof of insurance is also appropriate.

Demanding to see the driver's license of a passenger in a vehicle that has been pulled over for a minor traffic violation is inappropriate, as is asking the driver if he's "sure" that his car is registered, insured, etc. Demanding that the driver produce the registration and insurance card is sufficient. Taunting the driver is unnecessary and unprofessional.

It is the reason that most Madisonians don't like the corrupt bozos.

Shows how much you really know there Jim Bo!! I never went to jail, never! I did nothing illegal when I left the Department. And as far as the quote of I have anger issues, actually I am very happy now, it's all of you who keep dredging up this dirt because you have no lives of your own to pay attention to, that make me relive all this. You need to move on, I have. Forget it already!!
