That's an issue that comes up for a good reason- crowds of deadheads tend to be much, much more safe and calm than other concert crowds. You actually can bring kids there and be safe- you set up chairs somewhere off to the side, no one is going to put kids in the middle of a standing crowd at the edge of the stage.
You damn sure can't bring kids to a rap concert. Hmmm.... I wonder what the difference is? Oh yeah, it's GHETTO VALUES.

BTW, the byline of the title of this thread is strong evidence that the reporter just dropped acid.

might be true, but PARENTS should not expose their kids to the "deadhead" element.
leave the kids home or don't go.

It's fine for kids. The kids section is away from the main stage area. There are arts/crafts, face painting etc. That being said there is pot smoking all through out the festival, so if don't mind exposing them to that, you're good.

I'm on the fence about it. Depending on where and when you attend, its more like a county fair than a drug-crazed bacchanal. Limit the kids contact to that, and you're good. Don't forget there are far more courteous, helpful, friendly people there than the bad element.

kids should be allowed to make their own choices in life when they are old enough to make them, good or bad.
however they should not be influenced by "role models" into questionable choices.
leave them home.

I brought my girls to an outdoor concert once, when they were little. But it was at the Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, and I knew the guys in one of the bands, and it wasn't a huge crowd. I was with them the whole time, didn't let them out of my sight, and there were other people there that I knew, so I was okay with it. And there weren't a bunch of people drinking and smoking weed and running around half nekkid. That said, I don't think kids belong at 4-day-long concerts with multitudes of people and with limited access to things for them to do. Little kids get bored quickly. Also, other adults who are there to have a good time shouldn't have to be watching out for other peoples' kids; they should be able to enjoy their psuedo-debauchery without having to worry if some little kids are looking on! Once a kid hits a certain age, 12 or 13 or so, yeah, okay, I can see you bringing them. They can pretty much take care of themselves. But little kids and babies? Not the right place for them.

I think the kid's should go. They have their rights. We don't need to shelter the little darlings. Besides this is reality as well as history of their parent's past. I go every year with Tippy. I always try to sit down wind so I can get the most out of the event. Tippy never complained. At the end of the event I usually get a ride from a UFO.

Did your fellow accountants give you acid back in the 80`s? Then maybe you remembered hazing the younger Golden Rule Farm boys by giving you BJ`s in the barn and felt Topix was a wonderful escape from your mind back in 2006. You could probably get some fame and money out of being an internet troll for seven years now. Your game is consistent, I`ll give you that. Call Katie Couric.
